Funny stuff from the past

So as I mentioned before I was getting a 1994 F-150 that my Grandpa bought new. Will I finally got it last weekend and have been fiddling with it here and there as to no suprise. One cool thing is it still has the owners maunal(and other things too). While looming in the owners manual I found an interesting deal that made me chuckle.

What did i find? A revision in the owners manual for the Anti-theft. Now this truck is an XL with no bells and whistles. So who know if that was done at the factory, the dealer before sale or if the recall was done during my Grandpas Ownership.

Look closely and you will see how tue revision was done. Way better than what we get now a days if you ask me!!

A bit sad....Harvey Firestone, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison had a friendship that endured for their lifetime. Then we get an Ahole of a CEO, Jacques Nasser that destroyed the relationship with Firestone. The tires on Ranger at the time were the the Firestone XS on the 4x2 and the Wilderness AT on the 4x4. Both were good tires on Ranger. Nasser ego driven dictated destroying the heritage of Firestone and Ford.... Ahole! When he was fired, Nasser said "Mistakes were made"...F'cking Ahole made the mistakes...

Definitely a shame to say the least, I understand that there were some issues with the Exploder during the 90's and it is possible that may have initiated the destruction of the Heritage. I myself like Firestone Tires and already installed a new set(including a matching spare) today. Regardless its still cool to see old stuff like that intact.

I can only relate my experiences with Firestone tires.

My 1988 Ranger came from the factory with Firestones. At some high mileage on the first set, the RR sidewall blew out at low speed - looked like and sounded like a gun had gone off. Wore out a second set of Firestones with no issues and nearly wore out a 3rd set of Firestones when I traded the '88 for a new 2001 Ranger.

The '01 was almost immediately recalled for its Firestone tires, to be replaced by Michelins. The Michelins were still in great shape when I traded the '01 for the '06, which came with Goodyears. I replaced the Goodyears with Michelins not long before trading the '06 in on the '19.

Hankooks are brand new to me - we'll see how they work out.

Thanks to the 2016 Frontier I had I have some fair experience with the Hankooks. The first set lasted about 53,000 if I remember correctly(yes they were about bald) went ahead and bought a second set since I want sure what to get. The only thing I didnt like was the fact on how easily they would get a puncture(I found a lot of screws and nails somehow). With the Ranger it was factory Bridgstones followed by Cooper snows, a set of Bridgestone Revo 3's(ok all terrain) then a set of Firestone Destination XT's. The XT's are definitely a favorite of mine after taking them on some good trails. For the 1994 F-150 I just installed some Destination LE3's. I had a set of LE2' on an old GMC and they were awesome so I think the LE3 will do the trick for thus truck(just a 2WD).

I was installing Code Alarm systems in the 90’s. They were odd, some factory integration with harnesses, and many wires that had to be tapped into 1 by 1. Always with that LED that was also a push button.

Some of the funniest stuff comes from poorly translated phrases on warning labels and in owners manuals:
Printed on an old Mazda radiator cap: "Warning! Do not open, usually."
Printed in Montesa (old Spanish motorcycle) owners manual: "Service the machine's air filter when it appears to be full of dirtiness."
And this gem from the same manual: " Warning! If you are a person of unusual strength, do not engage in a contest of wills with the nuts and bolts of this machine."

I had a '95 XLT, there was no factory alarm, but I added one.

My '91 ranger has a page revision like that .
Back when you actually received something on paper .
Still in pretty good condition after 330,000 miles in the glove box ,LOL
