Purchased a 2021 ranger 4wd with the intent of flat towing behind our class c rv. Manual shows and many posts indicate this will not be an issue. We have previously had older tj jeep that was flat towed w/o any issues. Purchased and had installed a blue ox base plate, Demco stay in play braking system, also wired in a Bluetti charger/inverter and battery maintenance charger to keep 12 v system charged while flat towing ranger . After towing, after placing ranger back in normal driving mode, ranger makes a loud grinding, ratcheting sound. Turn truck off and restart issue goes away. Have seen posts where ford blames owner for not shifting to neutral tow mode ( we have followed ford instructions exactly) what causes this problem and will it damage my truck? Thanks in advance.
