Guessing the truck backed into the Honda and decided to flee the scene.

Less likely but the inverse could've happened as well.

Once I was sitting in my vehicle at the airport Park-n-Ride doing some paperwork when a lady pulled into a space a few spaces over. There was a vehicle in front of her and she kept pulling forward until she tagged the Audi and set off the alarm. She quickly looked around and saw me then got the "Oh Crap!" look on her face. She fled the scene while trying to keep her plate hidden from me (unsuccessfully). I left a note on the Audi.

It's hard to tell exactly what happened by looking at the picture. That Honda is probably still there when the picture was taken. Just off camera.

The F-150 owner should have parked with the tailgate facing out. It'll prevent mishaps like that. AND you'll get someone who parks so close to your truck, you won't be able to lower your tailgate. You have to scoot your truck up a bit. Always park with the tailgate facing out.

Dash cam with parking mode.... everyone should have a dashcam that is on 24/7.

Back when I did loss prevention for a department store, we pulled footage of a parking lot camera at a vehicle owners request. It showed said vehicle owner parked in a space and protruding into the space in front of them. That was their bad. But, a vehicle pulled into the space in front of them and hit their vehicle. They then tried to say that the vehicle that was there first must have pulled in and hit them while they were shopping.

The original person was over the line but parked, regardless of whether they did a good job of parking or not. So the second vehicle was at fault for hitting a stationary vehicle. The first person was lucky that we had a camera pointed in that direction at the time.

My brother in law says his company requires that when possible, always back into your spot. Reason is that when you are approaching the spot, you can check for any obstacles before you decide to back in. The you can use the back up camera for further safety to back in. When leaving, you just jump in and go and don't have to worry about backing into traffic.
