I know this is totally random, I want to learn welding! Im 63 retired, certified solderer have done some brazing and have always been fascinated with welding, huge respect for welders.....Oh.... and I can tig anything so modifications are possible.
Beautiful beadsNice clean work, beautiful welds?
When you say brazing is that silver solder brazing? Welding isn’t all that difficult really. Same concepts just a slightly different approach. If silver is done right it’s stronger than the steel bonded.I know this is totally random, I want to learn welding! No, rod brazing using a rosebud tip, it was done on induction motor rotors for brazing the ends, I have done some silver soldering. Also use to build the older style copper and brass radiators. You say welding isn't all that difficult, well there is an art to it, not just anyone can weld. Ive seen some beautiful beads and some real shitty ones. Majority of my soldering was on circuit boards for aircraft fuel pumpsWhen you say brazing is that silver solder brazing? Welding isn’t all that difficult really. That is one thing I would like to do as well is improve the exhaust. One of the first things I did to the truck when I got it was exhaust, I wanted a little sound and freer flowing. I liked the sound of the Flowmaster FX 3" on the Youtube videos but in real life the sound inside the cabin was irritating, not nice at all.
Thanks to SVT-Raptor recommendation I had a ZZPerformance shorty resonator welded in just before the Flowmaster muffler and now the sound is perfect for me. Nice tone, not obnoxious.
I was gonna go with a Vibrant resonator, but figured I spend the $ on a company right here in the States. Very happy.
Thing with welding is understanding the basics. Clean surfaces! and then learning puddling and penetration in relation to dwell time. Cleaning the slag tells a lot about temps reached and how well controlled the flow was. Just takes practice and patience. If you can solder then you should be able to pick up welding pretty easy. Now, granted depending on the type of welding be it stick, tig, mig, etc each takes a slightly different approach but a lot of it is more related to good flow temp controlNo, rod brazing using a rosebud tip, it was done on induction motor rotors for brazing the ends, I have done some silver soldering. True, actually no different than soldering, as far as prep and temperature control! Just a different medium. Although with soldering you are not melting the two components together! What solder does is grab hold by using the porous surface of metals, all surfaces are porous no matter how smooth they look.Thing with welding is understanding the basics. I will! give me a day or 2, gotta get one of my girls to help me. I Suck at computer stuff, I'm a late bloomer with this stuff. It's a miracle I made it this farPost a video please
