New here, first time posting.
I have a 2019 Ranger 4x4 STX with the basic SYNC setup.
I have high transmission power lines over my driveway which I believe are causing the SYNC to freeze whenever I pass under them. Once I leave the driveway I have to pull over and turn the key off for a couple of minutes until the system resets. I have had the dealer check the system twice and they have found nothing wrong.
Is there any kind of shielding available for this type situation?
Thanks in advance.

I also have issues with Sync when I start my truck in the garage. I think it can't get a signal it is looking for. I do a soft reset after backing out. Soft reset is hold power and next track for 5 seconds, then release. That would be better than sitting beside the road for a few minutes. I'm surprised soft reset is not better known. I found it on this website.

When it does this I cannot do a soft reset. Everything is frozen except the stereo volume. I can't navigate between screens, change radio stations or anything. However the camera will activate if I put it in reverse.

If you hold the buttons mentioned for long enough, it will reset (99%) even when frozen.

You could literally take it out and tinfoil wrap it (not kidding). Also tinfoil wrap the wires leading up to the unit. Technically, it's a Part 15 device which means you're SOL as far as getting Ford to fix it, or the power company to fix the lines.

Some ferrite beads on the wires coming in and out of the unit may also help, but shielding is the way.

I tried holding the reset buttons literally for three minutes. Nothing.
I may try wrapping the unit as you suggested this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion.

mine requires a reset often. ...when its hooked to the home wifi.
if i take it off the connection, its generally ok.
but then i feel sorry for myself and hook it back up, so i can feel even sorrier to make that decision. I kinda hope it'll update or something and in it theres a fix for the wifi issue.
The soft reset usually works, but last week, i too had an instance where it didnt.
Okay I will try turning off the wifi and see how that goes.
Thanks.

Mine would regularly freeze up prior to updating it to 3.4.1901. After updating it did get better but would still lock up or not display the icons correctly when using Sirius. Only when side loading the system to 3.4.20021 using the CyanLabs loader method did it start behaving. Since updating it a few weeks ago the system has not had one single issue. I leave the WiFi and Hotspot on all the time as well.

It's a bit of an involved process and took probably an hour total. That includes gathering the diagnostic info, creating the install media with the tool, and updating the system.

that solution was suggested to me by Ford btw.
the technician working on my problems, was in contact with some engineer higher up.
hopefully that means if its enough of a problem to warrant a solution, then one day it might come.
Hopefully. I have it disconnected. When I leave for work tonight it will tell the tale. Thanks again.

Instead of wrapping the whole unit in foil I would suggest lining the under-dash with foil. Maybe just lining the under-side of the dash tray will do the trick.

Five days later and no more freezes. Apparently the WIFI was the culprit.
Thank you so much for the tip.
