Not heavy duty but I figure it will take care of parking lot bumps with plastic bumpers just fine. I'm not pushing anyone with it or hooking a towstrap to it and it holds my fat ass just fine. Other than not being plastic or crazy expensive did the op mention anything other than heavy duty hitch step. This hits at least 2 of 3 of the requirements. And imo doesn't look bad.
If someone is hitting it hard enough to crush it, I'd rather replace that than a bumper or end up with hitch or frame damage but have my hitch step looking fine.
your not fat! its just you went for a different figure! umm round!

cool, you know when you are going to use a trailer, I don't get that luxury all the time
ill be honest thats some either shit planning or shit family/friends.... its not hard to figure these things out...
When I was landscaping, I had three trucks, three trailers. Two of the trucks would go weeks at a time without even unhooking the trailers, so not an issue. The third was my personal and daily driver. There were at least three days a week I needed the trailer all day. There were days I didn't need it at all, or days when I only needed it part of the day. I didn't see a need to haul a trailer full of equipment when i was just going to bid jobs or check on progress of projects. I had a couple small accounts near home, where i could just throw a mower and weed whacker in the bed of the truck, and go bang'em out while my guys were on bigger or all day missions. . Sometimes weather dictated an unexpected change in routes and whether or not a trailer was needed.

Or a storm, and now some unexpected cleanup when I otherwise may have had a day off. So yeah, unplanned use/need of a trailer really is a thing. It has nothing to do with quality of planning or friends/family.

Everyone's need/reasons are different, so it's really a pointess argument. My hitch lived in my truck's receiver 24/7/365 for eleven years, and I can only recall one time that I ever banged my shin on it.

I can say i've never used it a a recovery point, or to tow anything other than a trailer...but I have used it to pull the occasional stump or fence post out.

thing happen in the world, so be prepared, by leaving your trailer hitch in
I rarely tow. But I keep my hitch wrapped in a towel in the cubby under the rear seat just in case.
I've had too many shin bruises to keep it on the truck.

again not an argument more of a discussion and im bored at work and trying to understand why anyone would leave a hitch in unless they do it for work so for you it makes a load of sense but for the average joe that pulls a trailer once in a blue moon why?

Well, I've been in that boat too, and I can sum it up with one word:

purefookinlaziness.

Also, I just bought a trailer for my motorcycle for camp trips. And I just got a new mountain bike. So now, I can assure you, either the hitch or the bike rack will be living on my truck, only to be removed when the other is needed.

There's also the very real possibility that I'll be backing in to my garage one day, and I'll put the hitch through the wall at the back of the garage. if (when?) that happens, then I'll probably remove it. Or not, since now there will be a nice hole in the wall for it, but that's pretty much what it will take for me to consider removing it when not in use.

hmm idk maybe it has to do with me using my trucks for more offroad use so i never wanted one in the hitch because it would snag on stuff. prob why i cant rap my head around leaving it in lol

what trailer you go with? i have one im reworking to make into a bike hauler for my dual sport when i go on trips

Found a used Karavan on CL. Needs tires and prob wheel bearings- looks like it hasn't rolled in 10 years, but it was cheap enough.

Because a lot of parallel parkers use the brail method and the sensors in the bumper are expensive?
