Hmmm... so maybe my dealer was the dealer being dishonest? ?

The fact that you trusted your salesman over searching for yourself makes me laugh.I have the tow package, it's more than a receiver hitch and larger plug. It has drivetrain management (tow mode) that provides engine braking during downhill via transmission management, and the package also adds trailer sway control via brake management. I have towed with and without the tow mode engaged. The tow mode makes a huge difference in handling and stability, especially downhill, in cross-winds, curves and lane changes.
I didn't really care about it so I had no need to search... plus I bought a 2019 when it was so new that there wasn't much in the internet except pictures. They simply explained as I noted... and what they said is true. So you're saying the tow/haul mode console switch is on absolutely every US Ranger? Have any data to back that up? It wasn't on the two XL's I've seen.... not that it means anything one way or another because there's quite a few ways a truck can be configured. The fact that you trusted your salesman over searching for yourself makes me laugh.
I have the factory tow package as well. All the stuff you listed is standard on a US Ranger. No tow package needed.
To be fair, they probably weren't lying. I'm sure they thought it was true. Car salesman are absolute idiots when it comes to cars. The only question you should ask a salesman is "how much?"
The info is all over this site and others if you'd like to find it. It is well known that the tow package is simply the hitch and pins.I didn't really care about it so I had no need to search... plus I bought a 2019 when it was so new that there wasn't much in the internet except pictures. 1) The only features that Ford lists on the information page for the tow package on XL Rangers are the hitch and 4/7-pin connector.I didn't really care about it so I had no need to search... plus I bought a 2019 when it was so new that there wasn't much in the internet except pictures.
