First post here.

Just curious if anyone has come across a way to have the heated seats turn off between ignition states. I know there are two camps here, but I'm of the camp that wants to explicitly turn on the heated seats every time I get in the vehicle -- I don't want them to come on the following day because I had them on the last time I was driving. I feel the same way about my fog lamps, though thankfully that was a quick and easy fix.

I haven't found anything in the latest FORScan release, nor anything online pertaining to AB addresses and values, but it does seem like some Ford model years remember the heated seat state and some don't (more recently they *do* seem to remember).

My searches on the forum and elsewhere for the Ranger specifically seem to only come up with results around adding soft buttons for heated seats via the APIM, or modifying remote start behavior, but this is neither.

I have the same grievance. Although I would be a little less peeved if I could figure out how to enable the heated seats during remote start. It would be nice to have that tushy toaster nice and hot before climbing into the truck this winter....

That much I believe you can configure via the IPC menus on your steering wheel. From what I recall you can configure your climate settings to use the last state upon remote start, or automatic which uses some simple logic (external air temperature) to determine what settings to use when a remote start is initiated.

It's in the owner's manual IIRC, but in automatic mode the gist is:
  • If it's warmer than n degrees, turn on the AC and set the temperature, ducting, and fan speed appropriately.
  • If it's between x and y degrees, use settings from the last state.
  • If it's colder than n degrees, turn on the AC, heated seats, defrosters, and set the temperature, ducting, and fan speed appropriately.

Hell. Yeah. Brother. Thank you so much.
