As some of you know from this years mouse thread they got my rear o2 sensor at the plug on the sensor side. So I had nothing going on last night and decided to see if I could repair the damage.

I haven't soldered wires together in a long time so I don't know how well of a job I did, and my eyes aren't as good to see if I had good flow from the solder. The connections seem solid, if I ever had to install this it would be nice to see it not crack apart from the vibrations :)
Did have a little bit of a mishap with the gray piece on the plug broke, but seems to be working alright.

Don't know if I'll ever need it but it did give me some much needed practice with the iron.

I did the same when they chewed up my headlight wires by the battery. You can do yourself a favor and wrap it in this before you reinstall it.

I bought a new one and installed it already. I didn't know if I could get the plug apart without destroying it. I did this mainly for practice and confidence that I could do it. Yeah I thought about the tape, but I sprayed the engine down with peppermint oil for now. Also thinking about moth balls

The solution is in the boxes in the first photo directly above the dental pick.

Yeah I ziptied about 5 moth balls to wires around the engine bay and use peppermint extract with the dropper cap to soak them when needed.

Nice job!
Pulled out the sodering gun myself a couple weekends ago and fixed a broken terminal on the Edge.

Dude no way, I figured your pretty much screwed when a pin breaks. NICE JOB,

If I ran into that problem, I figured its a trip to the salvage yard to make pig tail for a repair like that.

Well it was either put the door back on without fixing it or taking it all apart again after I figured out where to get a pin.
Wasn't too bad to extract the pin with a pin extractor. I used a solid piece of copper wire to repair the pin, then crimped the new wire to it and soldered together. Was thicker than original and had to use a little force to get the pin back in. Added an extra length of wire to hopefully prevent the pin from breaking again.
My door hanging rig pictured below. Plastic on top because of course it rained.

And that is why I can't have new things. Too good at fixing the old things.
