Almost to work today, 2 parking lot entrances away. Some smart aleck turned in front of me, collision detected flashes and I was already on the brakes. Also had it kick on down interstate 75 running 74mph on adaptivecruise. Idiot in a little sporty car zooming around cars like he was in the Indy 500. He cut in front of me as I was headed to my off ramp. Collision detected again and it braked. I held on and started hand gesturing while yelling things to make most cringe.

I have adaptive cruise and collision breaking on my super duty, adaptive cruise control has braked pretty hard a few time on curvy uphill roads when there’s a semi in the right lane and you are closing in 30-40 mph faster than it. The braking is rather violent, especially when the speed difference is a lot. there’s little movement in the suspension when you brake on the 350 so it really goes for it. After a while you learn when and when not to use adaptive. I like to actually give it a little bit of gas when you are nearing those conditions, it disables Auto braking and doesn’t mess with cruise control settings. It cuts out at a certain low speed when decelerating In traffic and chimes to let you know it is no longer active.
Collisions assist comes on a lot when a car in front brakes to make a right hand turn and goes partially in the shoulder, not enough to be clear according to the truck though. Definitely wakes you up the first time the windshield lights up and starts beeping, you’d thing there’s a heat seeking missile on your tail

yep. It works.

I caught it before it actually applied the brakes but they were definitely preloaded.

Also, I was in a construction zone. The drivers side was on metal covers and the passenger was on asphalt. It stayed straight without fighting.

Any other car I have had would have been all over the place.

Nice feature.

It does work. I was traveling down I-81 and had a semi cut over in front of me in the left lane about 50 ft in front of me. The brakes applied before I could even react.

Got to experience them yesterday too when the car in front of me slowed up (read: slammed on brakes) quicker than the rest of the traffic. Brakes didn't completely apply before I got to them, but the warning light flashed and I could tell the brakes were definitely 'pre-loaded'.

Anybody notice the radio go quiet when this happens?

I've had this light up when traffic suddenly backed up and I simultaneously changed lanes to avoid slamming on my brakes...never actually had the brakes actuate though...

Yea mine were just starting to brake when the car in front of me decided to turn left after stopping in front of me. All the warnings and icons popped up as the brakes helped me stop. The system definitely works.

I have wondered about the auto braking system. I've read it can pre-charge the braking system for when you apply the brakes. I'm curious more on when it actually does the braking for you. If the vehicle in front comes to a stop does it bring you to a stop as well? Secondly, what if the vehicle in front only slows down enough to trigger auto braking then resumes it's speed? Like the example of a truck pulling into someone's lane in front of them that would be close but not slowing down. Does auto braking only slow you down enough to gain safe distance then coast from there? No need for a full stop in that situation.

The sensors do seem to have good range. They have alerted me a few times on the interstate when passing a broken down vehicle on the side of the road that I would be passing.

I’ve heard it will stop the truck 24 out of 25 times at 25mph during testing and every time at 10mph.

Above that i think it’s just designed to limit the impact. I’ve seen the warning go off and the disappear for those instances when traffic clears.

I had it activated less than 5 miles after I took delivery -_- someone suddenly decided to brake hard to make a right turn. The system was a fraction earlier than my own response, the nose dived pretty deep lol

Today I was coming up on a wobbly bicyclist. He may have had a couple wobbly pops.
I merged over into the left lane to give him a wide berth and in doing so I had heard the sound of antilock brakes and a slight slowing.
Nothing else registered as far as I could recall.
I dont know what the system was trying to do, but clearly his meandering caused something to start
Was your lane keeping system active?

Doesn’t it feel like a soft pedal when it brakes for you?
