What are they supposed to do on that checkup ?
Bend over...this'll be quick...
That's part of it. There is also a blood test to analyze your PSA Level. Normal levels are in the 4 range for most men. Mine got to 5.4 measured during a VA physical back in 2017, even though the "Ben Dover" exam felt the prostate was normal size. My primary care doctor wanted to do another blood test about three weeks later to confirm: up to 5.9 now. I had a biopsy taken shortly after which showed there was a small area on my prostate that had a very aggressive cancer growth.
In some men, PSA levels can undulate indefinitely or creep up slowly over several years, and nothing needs to be done other than semi annual or annual psa tests, my wife's uncle is like that. Because mine was slightly over the threshold, but increasing rapidly, I elected to have it removed using robotic surgery July 2018. My psi levels stayed down, almost undetectable until October 2020 when they started rising fast again. All it takes is a few malignant cells to get the band back together. I had a regimen of radiation therapy that ended shortly before Christmas '20. Psa's stayed down for a year, now they are rising again. I go in next month for another psa and a follow up .
I had a bone density scan this spring, and it turns out I have 72 year-old bones (I coulda pointed that out on my chart) which may complicate hormone therapy; ergo, the follow up consultation. We'll see. Prostate cancer is one of the most common for men to contract, and simpler to deal with if detected early, so make an appointment soon if you are 35-40 or older.

I can't endorse the Minneapolis VA Medical Center highly enough. All the staff from part time volunteer door greeters to the Surgical, Radiology and Urology staffs, and my Primary care physician are friendly, caring, respectful and professional. My case is considered a presumptive cause, because I was marching around in Agent Orange & Napalm-cleared areas of South Viet Nam in 1970. I am proud to have served, and grateful my country is taking exceptional care of me now.

I really didn't mean to bogart the thread, but something kept me going because maybe somebody needed to read this. And I'm not looking for sympathy or comfort. I get peace serenity and courage abundantly from my Creator. Life throws a high inside change-up at you sometimes. You just shake it off and get ready for the next pitch.

Interesting, but I am Doctor, this thread is about the Ranger Checkup...
Oh, that!! I'm coming up on 23,000 mi at 15 months old and I'l be taking it in for a QuickLane Works pkg at 24k. Probably throw in a cabin air filter if it's about time. Seat belt recall was done and my build is not included in the windshield recall. Just patiently waiting for the 'Kooks to wear down; I'm thinking an AT3 Cooper's or Falken's. I liked the Coops I had on a '00 Focus, and I've read good reviews on Falkens. I just need a mild all terrain, wouldn't get any use out of something with knee deep tread.
