Yeah I'm aware of the science behind it going back decades and they called it terms like Cyclogeneis. But still you never heard Bomb Cyclone on the news until a couple years ago. Hell you never heard Cyclogensis either, maybe the reporters couldn't pronounce it? I grew up where we got snowstorms every year. Thanks for the science lesson though.

I think a special Ranger STX BombCyclone Edition would be cool. Available only in pearl white with pearl white wheels, ARB fridge in the bed, extra powerful air-conditioned seats and a headliner mounted electric fan that blows full blast on the driver at all times.
That ain’t a bomb cyclone, that’s the Queens throne!!! You forgot the butlers bell ?

Science lesson
The term bomb cyclone comes from the meteorological term bombogenesis. Which describes the explosive development of a storm ( pressure drop of 24 millibars in 24 hours) and not the damage of the storm. The term has been used since the 1940’s and is not some recent devised term to scare people. Of course when a storm reaches bombogenesis bad things happen and hence the warnings.
Let's also include the fact that the definition used by the AMS came about in the 1980's primarily as a maritime cold season event.
I would go further and say that the term is in use by the media over the last 10 years because it sounds scary and gets clicks. :like:
For me, the whole thing was just a little cold and snow with little impact no matter what you call it.

Edit: Sheesh, I should refresh my screen before posting. MountainGoat beat me to it by quite a bit.

plus it gets rating! I think they're using terms like that to get people's attention to watch the news an if you're an idiot take precautions.

If you hadn't seen this "sports guy" doing weather it's worth a watch
