3 degree air temp, 20 below windchill temp. Woodstove can't keep up, furnace finally kicked on first timeof the year. It's cold outside. Plus about 3 inches of lake snow and another 6 to 10 inches by tomorrow afternoon. It's like living in a snow globe 🥶. Monday will finally go back up in the 20s. I think global warming is fixed 😃.

I don't know how you do it Ed, you're tougher than I am. 🥶 I'll try to send some warm air up your way it's going to be mid 70's all week where I am and in the 80's up where Chris @Chris M lives. Crazy weather patterns going on this winter where Florida might see flurries and freezing temps over the weekend. Stay warm my friend! :sun:

I had a Schwinn like that with the banana seat and shifter in the middle and chopper style forks. lol Boy were we cool!

We made our own versions of those bikes, 26" or 28" rear with 20" front wheel from a spider bike.

Of course we had the banana seat. And to make things fun I installed a steering wheel instead of handle bars.

Seemed like a cool idea at the time, but you quickly learned that bikes had handle bars for a reason.

Nothing worse than turning the wheel too far and taking a quick fall.... but it looked cool with a racing steering wheel. The wheel looked just like this one.... and you could turn the wheel 360 degrees all day long! A very bad idea if you were riding it.

Not tougher, more stubborn. We hate bugs, snakes, sweating, and love looking forward to springtime. We hate change 🤫. Maybe when we get older we will wisen up.

We use to set up a ramp in the neighborhood with a log and an old board and jump over our friends. o_O I ended up breaking the front forks off of mine going for the longest distance. :( The good thing is I didn't land on anyone. lol

But were you this cool:question:😂

Near our elementary school we had a long stretch of sidewalk with a chain link fence right to the inner edge of the concrete that surrounded the school yard which took a full city block. We'd ride our spider bikes on the side walk and ease our way over to the chain link fence until the handle bars would just touch the fence, creating a similar sound to the card in the spoke trick. You had to hold tight to the handle bars and touch it ever so slightly. We were good enough to do it without crashing into the fence after just a few tries. It didn't take long until we were good enough to do it at will for as long as we liked.

The crazy stuff preteen kids did in the early 1960's.

We'd pedal 10 miles from home in the Redlands just north of Homestead, never giving it a thought, before turning around and heading home before dark.

You guys are bringing back lots of almost forgotten memories! Makes me smile just a little bit.

THANKS!

You need to keep that urologist he's a good one! Many years ago when I was at university we had a biochemistry lecturer, a bit of a rough diamond who had risen from poor working class origins to a PhD in clinical biochemistry, and later a pioneer in molecular genetics education. One of his favourite lines was on the subject of drinks - "There are no carcinogens in beer" I loved that guy, behind the gruff exterior was an incredibly kindhearted academic, always happy to help a student who was struggling. He also attended a few of our student parties - and he really could drink.
Unfortunately, he retired a few years back but I still follow his advice. 🍻

I do like the snakes though. I’ll take them any day over bugs.

Holy crap, that's a big furry dog!

I can't show Annie this picture. She's always freezing and she'll want one to use as a blanket. lol

That last pic where I got him by the tail was the biggest one I ever caught, almost seven feet. He was right in town and I knew someone would smash him so I scarfed him up and took him down by the private pond where there’s no traffic. I got a video of him coming out of the car but it’s too long to post.

Thank you for continuing to update this. It's a big help.
Hopefully it helped a few out just being more informed than relying on apps that don't always update fast. Your area should be good for a while now and that was one heck of a storm last week spanning 2300 miles. This is shaping up to be a really active/brutal winter for many on the east coast and central states.

I still can't believe how cold it's going to be over the weekend in Florida. For Ft Lauderdale (33) and Miami (35) to get this cold is pretty epic. Well it is if you're a weather geek. lol

I have a good friend from back east who now lives near Doc in Haynes City, FL. He's been complaining to me about the last couple summers and how hot & nasty it's been and he kind wishes he never moved there. He should be happy now that the lows are in the 20's there. 🥶
