From what I've read most tuners suggest a one ranger cooler sparkplug per 75-100 HP added. Based on that I don't think I need to change the heat range. I figure my Livernois tune adds around 50 HP so no need for a different plug but the extra heat shortens plug life. I'll go with the Motorcraft plugs so that's cheap insurance.
That has been the rule of thumb for the last 50 years that I have been hot rodding cars.

Using that rule on the 2.3 Ecoboost engine you would need to be well over 400HP before needing to go a heat range cooler based on the Focus RS 2.3 is 350HP with the same plug as the Ranger.

It is the folks that put the one heat range colder in a stock engine then complain about the plugs fouling after 10k to 15k miles that have created the reputation that the engine is hard on plugs.

you have to thank us all
useful or not
we don't judge here and we don't isolate one member from another based on their posting habits.
we are all the same.
That's absolutely true :)
I meant to thank those who were giving input of any sort, vs those who were insinuating that my question (and desire to have spark plugs) was ridiculous. I don't believe that is constructive.
