I had a bad experience with soft covers that involved a knife, so I don't get those. I have the BakFlip MX4 which I installed myself, wasn't to hard, just read the supplemental instructions first. I have a tailgate seal so I took it through the touch-less car wash to check for leaks, none on the sides, a little at the tailgate, and a little at the front left where I forgot to plug a hole (since taken care of), all in all not bad. I will be keeping some gear in there while camping so wanted a hard cover with security. There is a mod you can do to the pull cables to prevent a coat hanger from opening it so I will do that in time, in the mean time I stuck a wireless remote motion alarm under the cover, when armed it will make a serious racket when disturbed, have only forgotten it once :)

Wireless alarm is a great idea!! Thanks for the response.

I have had 2 G2 covers. For my Ranger I just went with a diamondback cover for security, which would be my recommended solution if security is your prime concern.
Thanks, Looked at those and they are sweet, I may want to add a rack system someday though so I have kind of ruled the Diamond back out. I appreciate your input.

Have you also looked at the Truxedo Sentry CT? Same pricing (give or take a few $$). I have one of these. Look at my profile for pics. If you want any specific things photographed, just let me know.
It has a heavy-duty fabric cover on solid black anodized aluminum slats, (Sentry is vinyl, Sentry CT is fabric) and looks really well-finished. Very low profile when rolled down, maybe 1/2" rise, with industrial velcro to keep the edges streamlined. Feels really sturdy, and secure. I haven't walked on it, but it seems maybe sturdy enough for that (rated for 400 lb, but I don't know if that's evenly distributed or point load). There is a second set of latches at the midpoint that discourage casually lifting the middle slats (the secondary latches automatically release when rolling it up). No worries about someone breaking into it with the locking tailgate, although no tonneau cover will withstand someone with tools. Easy to roll up and down, and the latches work perfectly. Easy to release with a small wire rope underneath (releases both sides with one hand) and engages with a firm satisfying click just by pressing down lightly on the last slat. The securing straps are easy to use for driving with it rolled up. The entire cover can be removed in literally seconds if you need a completely open bed (rails stay in place, and the entire rolling assembly lifts off).
I have a little bit of water intrusion on the front right corner, but I think a strategic drop of silicone RTV will cure that. I had a little trouble with the initial installation, because I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to seal (and it didn't) but when I called to get some help, they said the sealing system had been re-designed and they sent me the new parts at no charge. After that it was much better. I was dithering between the Backflip Revolver X4 and the Sentry CT, and I found a few helpful reviews (linked below). I hate anything vinyl, especially when exposed to sunshine, so the fabric finish really decided it for me, but you may have a different perspective.

Here's a review of the F-150 version by someone who owned both:
