Hello all, I've done some searching around the forum but haven't really come up with an answer or direction for my subject (possibly just haven't stumbled across it yet) but here's the situation.

I'm decently happy with the factory B&O system and would like to keep it intact if possible, I feel its missing a bit from the low end though and was looking into an aftermarket sub woofer setup. I've seen guys upgrade the B&O system but from what I've found its mostly taking out the factory amp(dsp) and installing an aftermarket replacement.

I found this sub woofer on Crutchfield https://www.crutchfield.ca/p_13694684/JL-Audio-Stealthbox.html
I've been wondering if its possible to retain the factory system but just add this sub with an amplifier and if so how to tie into the factory system while still retaining it.

If you have not done so already, adding sound deadening mat to the doors makes a surprisingly significant improvement to the mid-bass output of the B&O system. Before doing this I felt the same that it just lacked a little bit on the low end, but after adding the mat in the doors and back wall made all the difference on stock speakers.

Only to find out how to pull the door cards off. It's a pretty straight forward process and takes about 30-45 min per door. Pull the door cards, peel the backer off the sound mat sheet and press to the inside of the door skin. Then using the roller tool firmly roll over the entire mat so it is properly fixed to the door. I also pulled the speakers out to make sure a sheet was directly behind each one. Then for the door frame structure I cut smaller sections and covered as much of that as possible. Takes about 4-6 sheets per door. Be sure to wear decent work gloves as there are sharp corners that you will get cut on. A word of caution on the foam weather barrier. Take your time when removing this as it is very delicate and will rip easily. Ford used a sticky urethane like material to attach it to the door so it's easy to reattach once done.

For the back wall you will want to pull the rear seat out to get full access to the B&O sub and amp as they need to be pulled along with the trim panels. Then cover the back wall panel with sound mat. The back wall will probably take 6-8 sheets.

I used this sound mat and any recommended roller will work. The doors have a nice deep solid thunk when closing where before they sounded like an aluminum can. Cut down on road noise considerably as well as resolved some door rattles from the cables for door handles rubbing against the sheet metal.

Thank you for all you help guys! To answer some questions yes I do intend to sound matt the doors and back wall.

I knew this would help with sound but being a bass lover that stock sub just isn’t enough, I want to feel the bass as well as hear it clearly.
