WebMD is good for the "cyber-chondriacs" so that they can self-diagnose a dozen different ailments to go trouble their doctor with.it seems like the online stuff from web md etc is all doom gloom worst case stuff. i will be staying away from it.
that is great news! hopefully the results show nothing to be worried about. let us know. I never knew this was something that has tolled so many people.my oncologist said today that of the thousands of thyroid cancer cases they have, only one has metastasize... just had a sono done on mine yesterday and am not too worried. ?
thanks for sharing! sounds like it turned out ok. glad to have you here.If the doctors tell you that you should have the surgery then I would listen to them. if you have doubts get a second opinion.
I had my Thyroid removed last September. It was biopsied and didn’t come back positive for cancer.
My doctor reccomended removal of the side with the large nodule and if it then tested positive for cancer, he would remove the other side as well.
It turned out that it was cancer so the whole thyroid was removed.
Just to be safe, they wanted to do the radioactive Iodine 131 as well to make sure that no cancer cells got loose.
I had to isolate at home for a while and lost my sense of taste but it’s back now.
I’m on the replacement hormone for the rest of my life, but all in all, not feeling any worse for wear.
Somewhere through the whole process I decided to buy myself another truck, a 2019 Ranger. When my youngest daughter saw the truck in the driveway for the first time, her comment to me was “so what is this Dad, Retail Therapy?”
The name stuck
Good luck with all you’re going through.
Sorry for all you’re going through, Mark. Sounds like you’re getting some great advice from the wonderful folks here.so doc took more blood today and felt around on my neck and collar area. asked some questions and told me the main concern was one of the 5 spots / nodules was now about 44mm. apparently thats as large as most lobes of the thyroid in general. it is very suspect of being cancer but the last biopsy was ok. biopsy was about 2 years ago so new ones are on the list of things happening next. still feeling run down, no energy. but less freaked out than i was. in the mean time im making some changes like some of our r5g friends have recommended like diet change and medicines . Thank you everyone! this really is the best auto forum.
Thank you so much Tracy ! You really are the best 5g wouldn't be the same without you.Sorry for all you’re going through, Mark. Sounds like you’re getting some great advice from the wonderful folks here.
It seems like every day I hear of someone I know being diagnosed with cancer. Good news is, I know a lot of people who have beat it and are getting on with their lives.
Take care of yourself. I continue to pray for you and your parents.
Or without you, Mark!Thank you so much Tracy ! You really are the best 5g wouldn't be the same without you.
My friend had radio active thyroid ablation (Iodine 131) and it was completely resolved .ask if radioactive iodine ablation might be an option. they basically give you a large dose of iodine 131 orally that is absorbed by the thyroid gland, essentially killing all the normal and cancerous cells. im not sure how it works today, but years ago i was a nuclear medicine tech and participated in a few of these. it does involve sequestering you in a hospital room for a few days until the radiation levels have dropped to a level where you arent considered dangerous to be around. i131 has a relatively short half life of 8 days so youre not radioactive for a very long time
Lawyer ?It's not easy to decide on a procedure like this, especially with family responsibilities. But for your safety, I recommend consulting with a specialized lawyer, to better understand your legal options and the protection available in such cases.
