Just wanted to see if this info might help anyone -
I was looking for a good deal on a hard folding tonneau with the following requirements:
- Fully folds open against cab
- sits flush with bed when closed
- ability to open and close tailgate without opening cover
And, i didn't want to spend > 1000 bucks.
I searched around for used ones and good deals and the best I found was the Gator FX (as far as I can tell, very similar to the Bakflip G2) for $764 from Tonneaucoversworld.com. You will have to call them and ask them for their best price.
Importantly, the product description says that
you have to open the cover to close the tailgate BUT THIS IS FALSE! the seal on the cover is designed so it will seal without opening the gate (see first picture).
Install time was 90 minutes (one person job) - and 20 minutes of this was looking for the right tools. Anyways, this is $200 cheaper than the Bakflip and I am very happy with the quality.
There was slight leaking at the tailgate after a huge SoCal rain last week, but I didn't expect it to be completely water tight.
