Thinking about adding HDPE to my skid plates and other areas under my truck. UTV’s use it and it helps protect the truck by making rocks slide easier etc. it’s not that expensive either $100 for a 48x48 piece. Just throwing the idea around. It’s snowing tonight so I’m board. Lol.

High density polyethylene sheet offers high impact strength and low coefficient of friction. The material is also moisture, stain and odor resistant. The durability of black HDPE sheet makes it ideally suited for a variety of applications such as water tanks, chute linings, and numerous industrial uses.

Even better is UHMW sheet. It’s indestructible. I’ve used it on some machinery a decade ago. No one thought it would last. Still looks as good as the day Input it on. Incredible wear resistance

Maybe some sweet talk and dinner too. Lol.

just give the skid plates a good coating of astroglide before hitting the trail... never get hung up just glide right on through :lipssealed::crackup:

We used that stuff on the bottom of a work skiff to protect from rocky shoals or oyster beds. It added a layer of protection for the hull, and it did tend to "slide" a little better on submerged logs and bed rock shoals. BUT the added weight was counter-productive. It made the boat so heavy that we lost freeboard making it even more difficult to access the shallows it was intended to use.

Of course, you are just talking about small patches of this stuff, so added weight or thickness to you skid plates likely isn't a big deal. I reckon if that stuff gets gouged up enough that it is unsightly, you just replace.
