  1. Brand New Salvaged Truck!

Here is the thing with train derailments. Any and all cargo is written off as a total lost in most cases. Usually the rail road derailment crews will finish destroying and scrapping everything. Years ago they would just dig a big pit close to the derailment if it wasn't in a town and bury...
  2. Wire plugged into positive battery terminal

Yup that looks like the mice around my house. I keep cats inside the house and also feed the feral cats outside. So far them lil dang meeses and evil tree rats have not ate anything on my truck.
  3. Decision time

HAHA I didn't even pay attention to the date that this thread was started, I had too much blood in the caffeine system this morning when I replied. But yeah a lot of old threads have been resurrected lately.
  4. Decision time

I'm another one that finds ZERO issues with the ride quality of the FX4 package. Though if you do a search you will find plenty of people that do complain about the factory FX4 shocks. I guess they are use to cars or SUVs and how they ride. It IS a truck after all.
  5. Calibrated my speedometer.. Or did I?

@got3fords Going to 265/65R17 tires won't hurt a thing considering the FX4 Rangers come from the factory with HanKook DynaPro 265/65/17 tires. Though most of us will NOT recommend going with the Hankook tires since they are junk.
  6. Calibrated my speedometer.. Or did I?

By federal law, vehicle speedometers can read up to 10% faster than actual speed. BUT they can not read any slower than actual speed. Motorcycle speedometers are the worse about reading faster than actual speed. Most motorcycles read between 8% and 10% faster that actual speed. @MrBusses if...
  7. Tuned Ranger 5g vs Raptor 6g?

Those WRX's are fun to drive. I don't drive my son's very much since I know I will get into trouble with it. I don't see a single turbo 2.3L competing with a twin turbo 3.0L.
  8. Trailer brake controller

That is another can of worms that causes arguments at times. @Jason B stated the reason for connecting the wire to the third brake light. It is an added safety for when the emergency braking kicks in when using the pre-collision and/or adaptive cruise control. Some will argue that this is not...
  9. Cooling solution for overheated head unit

I know I have had issues with a black/blank screen a couple of times in my truck do to heat. Every time it was when I was parked with the dash in direct sunlight on a 95+ degree day. I had to do the soft rest each time to get the screen to work correctly.
  10. Collision avoidance saved my arse today !!

The driver alertness is found in the same part of the menu on the dash screen as the C/A and is fully functional on the XLT with the 302A package.
  11. Collision avoidance saved my arse today !!

Yes the center dash screen will definitely flash when the C/A engages. You will also hear a bunch of rapid beeps through the speakers.
  12. Collision avoidance saved my arse today !!

Collision avoidance is available on all trim packages and it can be fully adjusted or turned off in the driver assist settings on the dash. My XL STX had the red LED strip and the four front bumper sensors that works for both parking assist and collision avoidance.
  13. Collision avoidance saved my arse today !!

They do the same here too. And I have never figured out why. Or they will stop too far back at lights to trigger the sensors and we all get stuck at a red light.
  14. Collision avoidance saved my arse today !!

The C/A definitely works. It sometimes drives me cray in parking garages though. It will go off quite a bit with pedestrians walking through the paring garage. Talking about bad drivers - I have a dislike for most drivers from Illinois and Iowa. They come to Missouri and think the speed limit...
  15. Too old to change oil ?

I would say it is more about physical abilities than it is age. I'm 51 and haven't changed oil in any of my vehicles for a while now, but I am also disabled too. But I will agree that we all reach a point where we have to admit we can't do things like we use to.
  16. Trade in question

We don't get any breaks when it comes to sales tax here in Misery either. I'm rated at 70% UI and get paid at 100% since my disabilities are considered total and permanent. I get one set of disabled veteran plates free of charge with no cost for renewals. My DV plates are on my Ranger so the...
  17. Trade in question

Missouri does. I call it the yearly extortion for owning property to include any type go road legal vehicle, ATV's and some UTV's, and all boats with any type of electric or gas motor attached. Plus we have the yearly extortion (real estate Tax) on homes and land. Mobile homes are weird as they...
  18. message when starting truck

While I have not had that screen pop up, My truck did act weird once after not driving it for almost two weeks. A couple of good 1 hours drives took care of things though.
  19. Trade in question

I traded in a paid for 2011 Harley Tri Glide on a 2020 Ranger XL STX. I had to pay sales tax on the $9,000 dollar difference. Sales tax was $740 here in Missouri. A year later I traded in the 2020 XL STX and a 2016 Jeep Cherokee on a new 2020 XLT FX4. The trade in value for both of those was...
  20. Holder for your cell phone and that silly dash tray...

I normally don't pay much attention to the little cubby on op of the dash in my Ranger. But after reading this thread, I put my iPhone 14 Plus in there and it took up the entire cubby.
