Good question. I have not seen any information that the towing package adds anything other than the hitch and wiring.
But check you gauge cluster for the trailer sway and trailer safety options. You might not have them enabled.

You can jack up from the frame for something simple like a shock install.
1. Lift as the manual tells you.
2. Place jack stands where appropriate.
3. Remove rear shocks.
4. Lift from frame to droop the axle.
5. Adjust frame height to center the shock holes.
