  1. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

Your 2.3 is definitely not dual injection in the Ranger. I still have yet to see any evidence that catch cans make a difference.
  2. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

    I believe the fastener is a T30.
  3. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

Yes, currently manning the grill but I'll get to it soon.
  4. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

There's a sensor right below the #3 cylinder intake runner (if that's the right term). One screw and you're in business. Getting the borescope to hook upwards and then back down is a treat. Good luck!
  5. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

I'm going to be checking every 25k for that reason exactly. No point in guessing.
  6. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

Happy Labor day Ladies and Gents, I've read way too much about intake valve buildup over the last few years and I was curious what my valves look like at 25k. I was able to get my borescope into the intake manifold and get a picture of one of the valves. IMO it looks pretty good. I don't...
  7. Cant hear the turbo...

Never noticed it during engine breaking, i'll have to watch for that. But locking it into 9th gear on the highway with a heavy load definitely spins er up.
  8. Cant hear the turbo...

Lol it's a tiny little snail of a turbo... a lawnmower makes more noise.
  9. Cant hear the turbo...

If you want to hear your turbo you've gotta go WOT between about 2k-3k rpm. Put your truck in sport mode and shift up into a higher gear, slam the pedal and you'll hear the turbo. Obviously you don't want to lug the engine so I don't recommend doing this below 2k rpm. It seems like above 3k rpm...
  10. Yikes, just saw a new Tundra

Alright, that post was just stupid but damn I don't understand how you were triggered. Just because you're from Ann Arbor doesn't mean you have to act like it lol.
  11. Max towing!! yeehaw

Steve, When the system is working properly it will stay blue until you apply the brakes. When the brakes are being applied it will change colors based on how much brake pressure you apply. Mine only stayed in calibration mode for less than a minute before turning blue. Have you ruled out any...
  12. Max towing!! yeehaw

The reason I went with a midsize is because it fits in my garage... which is a must because I leave home for months at a time. I really don't see it tearing up the truck anyways. The trans (10R80) can more than handle any power the 2.3 is going to put out and everything else seems super solid...
  13. Max towing!! yeehaw

Do you really think I can't tell the difference between an excavator that weighs 3,700 LBS and one that weights 10,000?
  14. Max towing!! yeehaw

I'm not sure if the rear window makes a difference. Either way, you have to pull down part of the headliner and connecting the wires for the high mounted brake light were not easy.
  15. Max towing!! yeehaw

No other modifications. I'm using a BW trailer hitch... which I highly recommend. Having the height adjustability is super nice and I go back and forth between 2 5/16" and 2" regularly.
  16. Max towing!! yeehaw

Last week I finally bit the bullet and installed the ford (redarc) brake controller. Sort of a PITA but well worth it. This setup is right around max weight for the Ranger... and it pulled surprisingly well. The only thing that concerns me is the actual tongue weight because its obviously not...
  17. Tail of the Dragon

Glad you had fun taking your Ranger down there. The dragon is far more fun on two wheels in my opinion but as long as people are respectful of other drivers/riders I don't care what they bring to the tail. I will say that after a day of riding on the bike, going back through the dragon in my...
  18. Poor quality/customer service with Bakflip

Matt, Were you given any of the ranger specific extras for installation? I've got the MX4 and it came with some bed rail adapters that made everything fit just right. Ted
  19. Reporting Fuel In The Oil issues And Other Issues To The NHTSA

The best way to solve this fuel dilution issue is a proper break-in. As soon as you roll off the dealer lot you gotta hook up the heaviest trailer you can find and flog the motor until it's begging for mercy. That's how I done it and my rings seated tighter than a sausage link stuck in a whisker...
