Someone else pointed out on this thread, that there's a chance this is condensing because of the long catch can lines / catch can temperature. Ie, if it was not there, the vapor would remain hot and combust in the engine as designed (vs condensing to a catch can)
This is a good question...
Thanks. But, is that integral for crash safety and overall truck integrity?
Asked another way, would trucks have different crash ratings with the tailgate removed? (They are made removable, after all)
Has anyone added tailgate storage? Is it crash-safe, or is the tailgate not part of crash safety?
For example, this link shows cutting away a crossmember, but I don't know if that's critical or structural for overall bed integrity.
My new 2021 XLT also had that -- on the same side. It was not normal. On opening, the tailgate practically leapt out, it was under so much tension, unlike any other tailgate I've had.
1) I pointed it out to the dealership on taking delivery (factory order), and they scheduled an appointment to...
I replaced the factory fuel tank straps, with straps with studs, so that I can attach the fuel tank skids plate.
Does anyone know the bolt torque? The Fuel Tank section had invalid (0 byte) PDFs. Thanks :)
Exactly; agreed. Actually, originally I was planning to mount a metal skid plate as well, until Phil and others on this forum pointed out the testing / puncture criteria for fuel tanks in crashes.
Ie non-Ford metal skid plates could "can-opener" the fuel tank in a crash, whereas the plastic one...
Based on some concerns raised on this forum on crash safety, I ended up getting the proper fuel tank brackets, with integrated studs: I didn't want to risk a normal hardware store bolt pushing up and through the fuel tank, causing a rupture/explosion/etc.
Presumably they designed the fuel-tank...
I did this, and i think it worked because a fault code appears (not visible on the dash) that communication with telematics is lost.
Unfortunately wifi is still On, and i can't figure out how to turn it Off.
Thanks -- but that's what I mentioned in my post, that I know what the manual says :D It says to wait 15 minutes, but doesn't say if longer is okay too...longer is also after 15 minutes :)
My question is: have people tried checking oil after sitting longer than 15 minutes, eg after a day or few...
That goes back to a question I was wondering: what's the best way to check oil level?
There were a few methods on this thread;nthe manual doesn't specify whether the vehicle should have been running recently, just that it should have been shut off for >10 mins.
Has anyone checked oil after...
Does anyone know how to remove the rear dome light in a supercab (XLT)?
I'm looking to access the area above it, but the Interior Lighting section didn't have that info -- that I could tell, anyway.
