I canāt speak to the results of this specifically, because I havenāt done it yet, but I plan to add a winch in that area in the future. These are my thoughts on it:
1) Airflow and cooling. Yes, blocking that opening will reduce the area of airflow, but not necessarily the AMOUNT of airflow...
You all are putting way too much emphasis on frontal area. You canāt just say āitās 8 feet wide and 10 feet tall, so it has a frontal area of 80 sqft.ā Frontal Area is the total area in square feet that a moving vehicle AND trailer exposes to air resistance. Itās about air resistance and most...
Got more text messages. Truckās back from paint, and being reassembled.
You can even see the Fox 2.0 shocks I had them replace the FX4 ones with. They had quoted me $150 per FX4 shock, and the Fox ones were $300 for the pair. Seemed like a no-brainer to go for the upgrade and have the shop...
The 2020 Explorer has it, and that has the same Sync 3.4 that the Ranger is, so the software supports it. Might be as easy as swapping APIMs and plugging in new cameras.
Thereās a lot of misinformation on this, but ultimately the FCC has only approved that theyāll lower the fee. They havenāt said when theyāll do it yet though.
ā¦well, I take that back. The FCC wonāt start collecting the new fee āuntil the requisite notice has been provided to Congress, the FCCās...
Not off road, not side-to-side, and not in the Ranger, but our Explorer saw 12° on some of the hills in San Francisco last week. They certainly seem steeper than what the gauge shows.
I got pics of my truckās repair sent to me! Sure, these didnāt come in the mail today, but by text message. Close enough. Who cares.
Progress is being made, now that all the parts arrived and the suspension and drivetrain have been fixed.
I walked through the lot at my local dealer a week or so ago while getting the Explorerās oil changed. Didnāt take long, since there were few vehicles available. But I realized a few things while there:
1) F-150 is still too big
2) $50,000 for a Mustang GT is insane
3) Lincolns are weird
4) I...
Donāt worry, Iām sure Ford will put in fake engine noise to sound like the supercharged one.
Considering the ā04 Lightning had a 5.8 second 0-60 time, itās slower than the ā21 F-150ās twin-turbo v6. And the new Lighting is even faster, quoted in the mid 4-second times!
I get the āno...
Always a little skeptical of YouTube reviews that I canāt verify anywhere else, but seems like this guy got some good hands-on time with the truck. Definitely get to see some stuff in better light and angles than in Fordās release video.
More importantly, he suggests that Fordās milage claims...
Years back, I used to be a radio operator. Not ham, but professionally. On a Jeep, itās easy to add all sorts of radios. Even a 102ā flexible whip CB antenna was easy to add, and even looked the part, which is important when your buddy worked at a former movie set, and you had a matching tribute...
INTRODUCTION
To this threadās future readers: Iām starting this thread while my truck is in the shop for repairs. Weāll get to that story later, but it turns out that āGo Fast and Break Stuffā is just a euphemism, and not something they mean literally. Who knew?
But this also means that Iām...
My bedside panels arrived today! Looks great, and they even included a āRemove Before Flightā keychain, which is great because my current oneās gotten pretty dingy over the past few years.
Now Iāve just gotta wait on the truck to get out of the shop before I can install them.
Specifically, they list the 2006 F-150. And having owned a 2007 version, they're pretty basic from today's vehicles. They only have the basic transponder key which is ridiculously easy to bypass. How many people hand over their keys to detailers, body shops, valet drivers, etc? These are all...
I bought this one from @LevittownFordParts.com It's expensive, but it's super nice. Had one in my Mustang, the wife's Explorer, and now the Ranger.

The rest of that paragraph says exactly that. The fob isn't sending out a constant signal (otherwise battery life would be terrible.) It's only responding to the interrogation signal sent by the vehicle.
The insecurity isn't related to the length of the key, but of the type of encryption used...
Agreed. The new (2020) Explorer is rated at 5600lbs, and I've towed my travel trailer, and family of 4, all over the US with it, no issues at all. Comfortable at highway speeds, 8-12 MPG, great vehicle. If the 10R60 is good enough for that, it'll be more than fine in the Bronco.
