Looks like our calipers and bracket are zinc coated. Never had good luck painting zinc plated steel at work without sending it out to a media blasting service, to etch the surface well. Always seems to just flake off after a year or so, even when you use an etching primer.
If you're going to hand torque, I recommend re-torquing as stated in the manual. You do loose a little clamping force as the wheel ultimately centers onto the lug nut seats and hub, after a service. Also, a must for any dually.
I just run the OEM mud flaps as well. Like them a lot and they mount super secure. All of the drilling required was just into plastic, so not a big deal in my opinion. Just installed some 275/65R18 Aggressive All Terrains, that like to throw rocks.... so, some urethane or rubber extensions...
Wow, this really sucks to hear. All I can suggest is that a decent quality torque wrench is a good investment. Re torquing wheels 100-250 miles after installing/reinstalling is an extremely good habit to pick up. Hope the dealer and ford will be taking very good care of you.
Just a 2" leveling kit with the OEM 31's is pretty livable in my opinion. Definitely the cheaper of the 2 steps you are trying to convince yourself on. IF you have to satisfy the itch (which I can relate to), I would follow through with the leveling kit first. It will allow you to fit a...
I was happy with mine. I've also had them on another past vehicle of mine and they did the job well. We also use them on some of our fleet trucks at work, the operators that have them on their trucks always request them again.
Discount Tire also has them rebrand the AT-M's under their...
You're welcome. If you do go for the leveling kit, make sure you schedule an alignment like the day of or after you install it (if that's your main or only rig). The from end was waaaay out on mine but my dealer was able to get it back to perfect spec and was able to shoot me in on almost a...
Hi AzScorpion,
I can't vouch for suggestions on a leveling kit, but I'm running a Daystar 2 inch kit and satisfied with it. I regards to tires, I have stock 18" wheels on my FX4 with 275/65R18 tires (just over 32 inches in diameter). I imagine with the tires you are looking at being around...
Selling the OEM tires from my Ranger I purchased last month. Replaced them with a slight larger, more durable tire for wheeling. They have around 1,500 miles on them, with no weird wear and new tire day burnouts. Only asking $300 for a quick sale. Not willing to break up the set and prefer...
I had a set of Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain A/T's in LT275/65R18 installed at Discount Tire today and they do indeed fit. There are also at least one or two other members that have confirmed fitment of the 275/65R18 size here. They fit tight to the knuckle but they seem to be safely do-able...
I maintain a fleet of ford E-350's, F-350's, F-450's, F-550's, and a few F-150's. We abide by a very strict 30,000 mile transmission service intervals. This involves dropping the pan, replacing the filter with a Motorcraft or Wix equivalent, and fill with Ford spec Motorcraft trans fluid. We...
I'm running Shell Rotella Gas Truck Full Synthetic 5w30 and Motorcraft Filters. Rotella Gas Truck 5w30 oil falls under the Ford spec for our engines. Motorcraft filters are cheap, very good quality, and undisputably warranty friendly.
Installed a Daystar 2" leveling kit on my '19 SuperCab FX4, this weekend. It came out pretty nice but I think its a little more than a 2" lift. Pretty easy to install and like the fact that the struts did not have to be reclocked and no need to disassemble the struts.
