I sold an F150 and bought a Ranger. 2 things . . . . Parkability and price. My prior F150 wasn't too big to drive, but it was nightmarish I'm busy parking lots and parking decks. Also saved at least 10k on the price, maybe more.
I don't blame Ford for making and selling as many Broncos as they can. I love my Ranger, but it's not going to command the same kind of profit margin in a market crowded with Tacomas, Colorados, and Frontiers. The Ranger shares factory capacity and parts with the Bronco. I'm sure that Ford...
Talking about motor oil is like talking about religion and politics. There's usually a lot of talk with very little science behind it. If you are not happy with Mobil 1 or Penzoil or Royal Purple or Amsoil . . . . . . Pick up some Supertech or Amazon Basics oil in the recommended viscosity...
Replace your cable if you haven't already. Use a quality one. An intermittent short could cause it. Cables fail a lot in cars due to the frequent movement.
I would just replace the battery before spending too much money or time on it. Batteries don't make it much past 4 years on modern Fords, and Ford isn't known for putting good batteries in their cars from the factory. If the problem continues, then you may have an issue.
There was a TSB for the 1.5, 1.6, and certain second gen 2.0 liter engines. Never saw a TSB for the 2.3. I have to assume it's not a significant issue.
I've actually owned both of those vehicles or similar configurations. Still own a 2022 ranger (not 2023) and our 2014 had the 2.0 L.
I think I can give you some reasonable answers:
Is it big enough for 3 small kids in the back seat (car seats/boosters)? My wife and I are both around 5'10...
This happened to my 2005 F150 a few years ago. It was shockingly easy to fix the bent frame in the back, and fix it right. It's an easier repair for most body shops than about everything else. They'll probably replace the bumper and hitch assembly. Straighten the rest out . . . . ...
The coolant change requirements from the manual are 200,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes fires. Most are not going to make the 200K mark before it needs changing.
Auto stop-start stopped functioning on my wife's edge and it was the battery. Those AGM batteries have around 780 CCA and hers was down to 390. When you replace the battery, your battery management system will need be reset by a dealer or someone with an appropriate fancy scan tool. You...
My original question wasn't really about whether it should be done, but more about why Ford called out this vehicle differently than most. I've got 2 other Fords and have had several others over the last 10 years and none had this listed as a maintenance requirement.
2005 F150 XLT Supercab 4x4 to a 2022 Ranger XLT Supercrew 4x4 . . .
F150 was very BAD on gas and a nightmare to park around the city. Ranger is plenty of truck for me.
If you want to do it yourself, then by all means do it. It will certainly be cheaper, and you have a guarantee of quality work (assuming you do quality work). I usually don't because it can be a PITA and I don't have a ton of time. That price doesn't sound awful for a dealer. It's...
Absolutely true, but the last 9 Fords I owned did not have brake fluid as a maintenance item. I'm trying to figure out what's different about this truck. Most other cars that have a requirement for brake fluid exchanges have it at a less frequent interval.
Just read the owner's manual for my new 2022 Ranger and noticed that a 3 year brake fluid change is listed as a normal maintenance item. This is a very odd requirement for a modern car, especially a Ford. Does anyone have any idea why there is such a requirement?
