People just follow too close to pickup trucks in small cars with no ability to see what's happening beyond the larger truck. When someone gets too close, I just leave a lot of space between myself and the car in front.
I would not go 150K either, but stop looking at the color. Ever since Ford switch to the LV line of fluids, the color changes very quickly. You'll be changing it with your oil if you use color.
They've got one used in the Bronco, so all of that certifying, building, maintaining stuff is happening already. Same engine and similar platform. Bronco is a newer platform than the Ranger, and it's definitely not dead.
Not sure why Ford doesn't off the 6 Speed manual. They have them sitting in the same plant and mated to the same engine and transfer case. I'm guessing it's a EPA fuel economy thing, since newer automatics usually beat manuals on the EPA test loop.
As many of you have stated, there are a lot we don't know and the tech is jumping to some conclusions without all the data. I have submitted a sample of 5w-30 full synthetic (supposedly Valvoline bulk oil) from my Ecoboost Fusion with over 8000 miles on it. It was fine. Looked like Hell...
Feature for feature, the new 2024 rangers are a few thousand more than the 2023s. Problem is that they took away the lower end and created more high end. Car manufacturers seem to also advertise the "Raptors" and the "Tremors" and really cool variations that 99% of the market does not need...
Wow! You don't drive it too much! Glad you are still happy with it. As you describe your ordering experience, I feel like car manufacturers like Ford that want to go to a "build to order" business will need to have more predictable delivery dates.
Someone may jump in and educate me here, but I've never heard of a stock 2.3 having a head gasket problem, except the Focus RS with the head gasket defect. Every time I hear of a problem, it's after someone modified it . . . . . . usually to make 400+ hp. This is usually a Mustang problem...
"Undercoating" covers a wide range of products and a lot of them are very bad. Some will destroy your truck. Fluid Film is just lanolin which is oil from sheep wool. It'll dissolve some rust, but mostly just arrests it an keeps it from getting worse. Won't hurt anything
Be really careful with that "rust eater" paint. Usually that is recommended for surfaces with lots more rust and no useful paint. It can damage paint. I wouldn't use it here. Go with the wire brush and rustoleum option, or just watch it a while.
I had them chew the fuel filler pipe of my old F150 twice at $750 a pop. I now keep the Ranger in the garage. I hate to hear that Rangers are squirrel food too.
Mine's working pretty well now, but I've certainly seen bugs as Android and Sync are updated. Never had the kind of trouble you are describing and it's never been unusable.
I tend to agree what everyone else said. The "pudding" under the cap can happen when you drive short distances in cold weather, and condensation doesn't burn off. However, if you are like me, it will bug the crap out of you until you know for sure. Also, in the even you do have a blown...
