Apparently it's not too hard to add them. Someone here on the forum has done it and posted pictures. As far as the bumper, be sure to order it from Ford and have it dropped at your local Ford dealer for free to avoid shipping costs.

My Ranger is the first time I have purchased an extended warranty. I think I paid a bit over $1K. I recently had $7K+ in repair work done (rebuilt transmission at 36k miles and replace warped heater box) and it cost me the $50 deductible. So in my case anyway, it was well worth it.
