I tend to agree with that observation, at least as it pertains to the massive amount of crud I collect each run on a muddy/slushy trail (most days in the winter).
Your post jogged my memory of an idea I made a strong mental note to try and then forgot as I went down the "alignment rabbit hole"...
I did a partial tear on my other shoulder maybe 5 years ago now. It was during what they call around here the "snowmageddon" winter. We had a lot of snow that winter and some fearsomely low temps. I slipped on a step taking the dogs out for their final pee one night and landed on my elbow...
I don't know how old you are, but I have noticed a definite stair step down kind of thing going on when I injure myself, etc. A guy I follow on YouTube is named Dr Attia. His practice I think is centered on longevity and I think he is pretty good with his advice. At 73, I hope I am not yet at...
I have had the exact same steps on other trucks and they worked perfectly after my home install. The 5GRanger is definitely not 100% the same from a proper install standpoint. Looking back on it, I should have gone to an authorized installer and paid up. If they still didn't work after that...
Frankly, at this point I am suspecting the "warped idler linkage" story by the dealer was just that, a story. I suspect he couldn't get them aligned and just picked something to single out as a cause and AMP figured that out as well.
I have been under there quite a bit (shimming, changing...
Good for you, never give up! ;)
I can’t remember the exact date it happened, but mid winter. My range of motion is just about back completely, but anything with heavy lifting and I can really light it up.
We planted some tomatoes and basil at the end of May. Wrestling around some wet bags...
The good news is with your experience in the trades, surprises should be pretty far and few between. Also, when the surprises do crop up, the solution is likely to be a little more equitable than if you were a "deer in the headlights" newbie. ;)
Just a final update. It looks like AMP isn't going to replace the idler units (the forward operators). The good news is I got both sides to open and close completely and it appears as long as I can keep them lubed, they seem to be working (thanks to tgRanger for the tip on the WD40 silicon...
Thanks Dave, it is getting better. I have almost full range of motion back, it may be a very long time before I have all my strength back on that side (at my age, maybe never). I haven't yet resumed my upper body resistance training and it is kind of shocking how much I have withered up top...
We have standing seam metal on the shed portions of our porches front and back. I love a lot about them, but there are downsides as well, mostly that they are pretty fragile when someone has to get up there. The standing seams can get bent over pretty easily, etc.
I hope you have avoided the...
This is such an old thread, I thought it was appropriate for an old guy to revive it just one more post.
I broke down and bought a Deezee tailgate damper.
Last winter I took a pretty good fall on one of the steeper (and turns out icier) trails we hike frequently and tore my left...
Hi Dave, sorry I didn't see this thread until now.
Congratulations on the sale and the new adventure. Building is usually a trial, but in the end you get what you want and that is really a big payback.
The area you have chosen is beautiful. My wife had a family reunion at a resort in that...
I can find Ethanol Free at certain stations. 87 Octane Ethanol free is easier to find than 91 and seems to carry a little less extra premium price tag than 91 (probably because more station feature it). The one station within easy driving distance that has 91 Octane Ethanol Free charges...
Just an update. I got my Ranger back from the dealer after the windshield adhesive replacement recall and AMP Powerstep debug. The tech determined the front idler operators are warped and has contacted Amp for a replacement under warranty. The dealer said the steps come with a 5 year...
I can’t say for certain on a street car/truck but my guess is you could tolerate quite a bit and only notice it when moving really slowly and turning.
I raced Formula Fords (no power steering ;)) for a long time and had a few setups where we had as much as an inch or two scrub radius. In those...
