I feel your pain. Last week we took a road trip down to Las Vegas to celebrate my wife's mother's 95th birthday. Nevada was chip sealing the highway. Maybe 20 tiny chips in the paint up front. Very frustrating.
I totally agree on getting the universal oil filter tool., makes removing the oil filter a breeze. When you remove the filter the oil will run down into a channel designed for that purpose and it will drain straight down in a spot on the drivers side. Make sure you have some rags positioned...
Frankly, compared to the lifter problems I always worried about with those engines, potential multipart lift gate problems seemed like small potatoes… ?
If you are going to mainly be on pavement, maybe just replace them with the factory Hankooks. If you want an upgrade quality wise, maybe something like a Michelin LTX (but get ready for sticker shock).
I personally think the BF Goodrich K02 (or K03 if they make them in your size) are the best...
I had a GMC Sierra AT4 with one of those 85 hinge, multipart mini tailgate drop down thingies.
I have to say, when we were at a snowy trailhead and I was putting my microspikes or snowshoes on, that little mini tailgate was the perfect height for my butt to sit on. Even better when exhausted...
So I went ahead and got some mudflaps so maybe I can cut down on the mud and slush I accumulate on the forward linkage (which can't be good, no mater how much I wash it off and re-lube).
I got these off Amazon, seemingly knock off factory style. They fit perfectly, so here is hoping.
Sorry...
That is great. Most people I talked to before I decided to go in always said, "I just wish I did it sooner". Now I know why they said that. I lost a lot of time trying things that I was hoping would obviate the need to have the surgery. Had I done it as soon as the first really bad pain...
So it is official, I installed the Deezee tailgate damper. One strange thing was when I called to find out where I turn in my man card, they said it had been revoked years ago... :like:
Knees are tough. If it were a hip, I would say get it replaced as soon as possible, knees, not so sure. Has she looked into braces/support, sometimes that can help. As far as falling, I am in the same place. I have permanent raspberries on my knees and elbows, major klutz on the trail.
On...
A very long time ago, when I was still in college I worked nights in a factory at IBM which built big old disk drives for mainframe computers. We had two types of drives that came down the line, we had new and we had reman. The reman units were all stamped "equivalent to new" before they left...
I have changed quite a few things following a few YouTube channels focused on longevity. Along with changing our diet, I started taking a number of supplements. The only one I can say has made a recognizable difference so far is Magnesium Glycinate. As I have gotten older, it became harder...
I have heard knees are the toughest from a rehab standpoint. I can say if you get a good surgeon, hips are maybe a little tougher than a wisdom tooth but compared to all the hardware they install, pretty easy-peezy.
I stayed away from the knife on my shoulders both times and I think I am glad...
Life as we age becomes such a dilemma. We feel best when we get out of bed and are moving, but moving makes us tired, looking forward to sleep, which bring the soreness, cutting short our rest. These are all good problems nonetheless, far more fair than the alternative.
