I would consult with a detail shop and see what they say. The paint on these Rangers seems on the soft side and you don't to make the problem worse.

I get my gas at Quiktrip because of the ethanol free 91 octane. Does Chevron have that? I guess I could Google it, but feeling lazy at the moment. Fighting a cold and just got home from work.

I'll run some Techtron once a year to clean the injector tips and combustion chamber and to hopefully keep the rings clean and freed up.

Now they tell me :computerrage: Took the fan pulley loose first to see that gave me enough room. Nope Had to loosen the fan nut about a 1/4" to get the fan pulley to slide forward enough to free the idler pulley.

Confirmed, a thin sticky film of grease on the surface of the pulley. Off to Rock Auto

You know I was looking at my replacement hose pic and it looks like I have a seal failure on my idler pulley bearing. :shock:

Wow I would like to see some pics of how clean your cam and upper part of the head looks like after that long.

I've been using Pennzoil Ultra every 5k since 10k miles on the truck. It will be interesting to see how it looks at a 100k

One of the screws did seem to back out easier than the rest, and the seal (gasket) did not look damaged. I'm thinking along the same line you are at this. I didn't clean the sealing area or anything else for that matter before I reinstalled the light just in case I took in to have it done under...
