Yeah, those rotors look like they have seen some heat. I would take @Grumpaw's advice and try to let the transmission help with the down hill drive. If your brakes get to hot they won't work as well, known as brake fade.
How long did you ride the brakes? The clutch burning smell sounds like you over heated the brakes. Look at your rotors and see if they look like they have been overly heated or scorched.
Going with 91 alcohol free gas gets me 26.5 @ 65-70 mph. Only cost me $0.55 per gallon more and its pretty much a wash for the increase in the mileage.
Changed my oil and transfer case oil yesterday and decided to get a couple pics with the camera.
I did try to look at my intake valves for cylinder 3 by removing the sensor next to the DPFE sensor and couldn't get it snake up to cylinder valves.
Did try to take look in the transfer case though...
Changed my transfer case fluid yesterday and man it was dark like used motor oil. The fluid didn't have a burned smell or anything like that. The drain plug magnet didn't have a lot of metal on it. Pretty non existent really.
Oh yeah 35k on the clock. Might start doing this every 30k.
Longer than 7 years. I've never had or even seen an oil pump fail on any Fords in my family or friends. These belts are going to wear out unlike shaft or gear driven. As far as chains they should last a lot longer than a belt I just don't know how far.
Would like to some time with the miles on this system before I would buy. I hold on to my vehicles for a long time and high miles. My last f150 was 17 years old with 245k when I got the Ranger.
I want to see a longer track record.
Ever since I disabled the TCU I no longer get the random wake up calls. The only time it does it now is when I open the door. It would always make me nervous while I was changing the oil and hear the truck power up.
By the way if you didn't notice they sent me a $30.00 gift card for a 5star review. So if I do that it means Amazon is paying me $8.00 to have this.
I'm not going to give a 5star review just for the money. I'll be changing my oil in 2 weeks, so I'll do some pics then. Need to get a memory card...
