Although I can easily reach both signal and wipers with a finger extension, my knuckles are no where near either un normal driving grip. I'd like to see a photo of your hand driving position which your knuckles are hitting the control arm.
My 2010 F150 ran fine with the spare which was almost an inch smaller than the other three. No errors or bucking.
With an even smaller tire, it gave me ABS error messages on the dash but drove smoothly for 10 miles back to the shop.
Two rims with the same off set and identical in every way other than rim width, will have the exact same relationship between:
1 - The tire center line and wheel center line
2 - The tire center line and distance from the vehicle
3 - Tire poke.
The only thing that changes is the distance...
I wasn't looking for a pissing match either.
Tire width and wheel off-set will determine poke, not wheel width.
My original comment was replying to someone asking about people not talking about wheel width on this forum, which is a Ranger forum not universal tire and wheel fitment for all...
Yes in theory you could design a rim that would create conflict on our Ranger, but I doubt you'll find a production rim that does.
This isn't a 75 year old bolt pattern used on hundreds of vehicles, with thousands of aftermarket wheels options. It's unique to a few vehicles, all of which are...
Yes the rim lips move farther out, not the tire. The tire still sits in the exact same relationship with the truck whether the rim is 6 inches or 10. The tire is wider than the rim, and where fitment becomes and issue, not the rim lip.
Hypothetically a 17x20 rim wouldn't fit, but manufacturers...
Ranger tires are 265/65-17 (30.6") or 265/60-18 (30.5") and Tremor tires are 265/70-17 (31.6") which is 1.1" difference or .55" increased radius.
I'm curious where they gain the extra .25" clearance on the Tremor.
