I uploaded the .xml when I updated back in August and the site is reading correctly that I have 3.4.20136. The My Ford Vehicle says that I do not have any updates available.
Is this something I can request from the dealer? I'm one of the dweebs who doesn't like changing anything that Ford could point to as the source of the issue until after my warranty expires. Unless of course they do it themselves, although even then I've heard some bad stories of the Roush tune...
Yeah it seems to work appropriately on AC. But with heat I'm much more particular. Heat dries my eyes out so I don't like it on defrost or face unless it's actually defrosting. I usually only keep it on feet. The lack of UI climate controls also makes dual climate zones a bit confusing. I'm not...
What's weird is that when I check for an update, it now tells me that I have the most recent release (3.4.20136). When I was regularly checking last month, it told me that I was on the latest release of 3.3. I'm REALLY confused if they have re-released 3.4 and didn't update the rev#, if the...
Based on the drive home, I'd say it's fixed. Very happy with that dealer. That's an interesting thought on the circuit. I still don't know why it worked 90% of the trip. I am sure they get all kinds of issues like that brought in but you can't fix what you can't see broken, especially in...
They called this afternoon and said they were able to source the parts on short notice and performed the necessary installation. I just drove it 15 miles home and it's completely fixed.
The invoice says the following:
"When removing #1 coil to check for spark, found water intrusion into plug...
What is the version of Sync? Are you on 3.4.20136? I'm on this from August, when it removed my climate controls (with everyone else's). I kept entering my VIN and the site told me that I was "up to date" at 3.3 when I was at 3.4. I checked last week and it now says that I'm "up to date" on...
Phil,
No explanation as of yet. Phil, do you think I will see any lasting damage from driving the truck with the malfunctioning coil/plug? I had to drive it about 250 miles to get home. As I said, I was able to get around the shudder by manually shifting, but I'm assuming the plug was firing...
Dealer Update:
They drove it 5 miles, immediately noticed the issue and found that one of the spark plug coils was bad. Apparently the plug was bad too. They found water(???) in the boot(?) of that coil. Ordering a new plug and coil. Should have it back in a couple days. Adding some dielectric...
Do you have an OBD reader that you got this from, or can you find these codes as they pop up via a menu in the vehicle or in the FordPass app or something?
It's at the dealer as we speak. According to FordPass, they took it for a 5mi test drive this morning. Hoping they confirmed the issue. FordPass isn't indicating it's been moved otherwise. I'll definitely update when I hear more. Hoping to get a call within the next hour.
I have an appointment for tomorrow.
Thanks Phil. Your input on this forum has answered so many of my general questions. I'm certainly grateful you're here. We'll see what the dealer says tomorrow.
This was my plan, but I have been concerned of damaging the engine if there indeed is water or something in the fuel. It'll take me another week or so of driving before the tank is empty.
I don't know the exact code number, if that's what you're looking for. But the message in FordPass says "the Powertrain Control Module has detected an engine misfire condition caused by poor fuel quality or a powertrain malfunction. This can result in excessive exhaust temperatures that could...
I filled up at my local Wawa, which is extremely busy and I've never had any issues with in the past. I also re-filled up from half a tank at a Gulf that was also extremely busy. Check engine light only came on when the initial shudder happened. I don't think I got to the brake fast enough...
Hey gang!
First off, I'm new to post but I've been lurking for a few months. This forum is one of the best automotive forums that I've come across. Having Ford engineers actively in these threads is wonderful. I haven't had any issues until now, and now I have two fairly significant issues...
