  1. 10 speed transmission issues

Bein a control freak, sometimes I just drive in sport mode and shift myself, no skipping 2nd gear. On hiway, going up hills, in "D", the tranny will wait longer to downshift, then skip from 10th to 8th. I find I can squeeze a bit more from a drop of gas by manually downshifting to 9 before...
  2. Ranger rear end problems.

Unless a customer uses a grenade or sledge hammer to destroy a part, Ford should actually be looking for reasons to make repairs under warranty. This to build confidence in the brand and warranty. I hope it was not just your connections that got them to honor the warranty. Wally's in Greenbush...
  3. 2021 Ranger XLT Tremor - Deep Sleep in cold weather

Got message in phone app that mine went into deep sleep. I ignored it. When I finally went to start the truck, it refused. PITA to get it to wake up. I think my battery was very dead. I charged it @ 2 amp on dumb charger for 14 hours, because "smart" charger would not even start the charge...
  4. Anyone know what this button is for?

My dealer put in an aftermarket alarm which had an obnoxious blinky light down there. I had them remove the alarm. some hidden part remained, and occasionally will beep at me for reasons unknown.
  5. Effect of start/stop on turbo?

If I hard drive I just put it in sport mode, push the button to deactivate it, or idle in neutral
  6. Could this be the start of something bad, or do others hear it as well? (Possible bad turbo?)

I think I hear that too. Sounds like the popoff valve or some kind of cushy fizzy sound. Not sure what it is. So far no drivability issues. Does not happen @ hier boost.
  7. Cant hear the turbo...

It is not plastic, it is aluminum. And the curves are mandrel bends, very smooth. I would love to see this built of ABS, so if you do, please post pics! It is here for under$300...
  8. Cant hear the turbo...

Not Not just a pipe. The intake kit has a larger air filter surface area, and the pipe going from the intake to the turbo in is very smooth, nice and round. So increased ease of sucking in air, so improved HP: "Dyno Proven gains of up to 14 hp and 13 lb-ft. of torque" (Not that any...
  9. Cant hear the turbo...

SCORE. Be ware though, the truck stock is said capable of fording 31" water. the stock air box has its intake at the top of the front end. The one that comes w/ this intake is just a baffle to interfere w/ engine heat, open @ the front and sides , so water over about 20 inches may begin to...
  10. Wow! I've owned my Ranger since 2019 and I've never noticed this!

The glory of a 10 speed transmission is that it does not stay in 1 gear long, especially when speed, incline, winds etc are changing. The computer is always adjusting to balance max efficiency for a given demand.
  11. Is a 10,000 mile oil change interval ideal for the 2.3L?

I appreciate your understanding of scientific methodology. To extend the idea, 10,000 motors randomly selected from all of those powering the range. 5,000 motors with oil changed as indicated by the OLM, 5,000 motors with the oil changed at some fixed interval, say 5,000 miles. I was thinking...
  12. Rotate tires at oil change intervals.

I failed to rotate my tires 1st oil change. Dumb. One tire developed cupping. Moved that to spare. Might have avoided with timely rotation. 195/70-17 Toyo Open Country R/T Tires on 17x10 wheels +12 mm offset.
  13. Is a 10,000 mile oil change interval ideal for the 2.3L?

I am trusting the OLM in my Ranger. I will let you know in 8 years when I hit 100,000 miles if that is smart or not.
  14. Bad BCM (or so I'm told) and a nightmarish customer experience

Me fix modern car. Computer no say what wrong, I too dumb to fix. Even though have eyes, no have brane. Cannot figure thing out by think and look same time. Sorry must stop type now to breathe.... .... Ok can type now. Cannot type and breathe same time. Computer say no wrong. Your...
  15. /Anyone Compared 18 and 17" wheels?

Depends on primary use. If only smooth paved roads you could put 20" wheels and be fine. For offroading, a smaller wheel is better. because you can get more tire cushion between the wheel and rocks with an equivalent outside diameter.
  16. How far is out of gas ?

If you are gentle on the pedal that will take you a ways. If.
  17. How far is out of gas ?

Could be, the hier octane lets the motor take more air. In Denver it is thin :)
  18. FlowMaster FX Series cat-back drive by and acceleration! Small review.

I put this on my truck too, muffler delete. I wrapped it from end to end w/ fiberglass wrap, then painted it w/ hi temp brushon paint. I can put my had on the exhaust seconds after a hard run. REALLY carries the heat to the end. It is amazingly quiet inside and the cab stays cooler which is...
