I'd add a can of compressed air if you don't have a compressor and/or brake clean and some rags. I used both. My truck lives on the road and the area around the opening was nasty. Mostly dust but right on top of the fill. Don't want to get crap in the trans trying to take care of the trans IMO...
The only thing I got to add to my living room decoration/stuff on the wall was my retirement certificate from the Secretary of thr Army. Mine is on one side of the TV, wife's is on the other side.
I can confirm it looks fine once installed. Also it was dead on with the stock dipstick. The dinged up stuff is where you won't see it after it's in place. Most of that was because of the repeated attempts to install. Just to make sure it wasn't me and it was the truck. Either the lines...
I'm about to have to trash this thing. Taking up too much room in the garage and annoying the wife.
Maybe an option for someone with a damaged grill, gonna paint it, or wants a neat wall hanger?
If you have not already done so - I'd shotgun the EGR sensor on it and see if that helps. I did mine at 27ish K miles. It wasn't even bad yet, but sort of like throwing new plugs in after old ones wore out - you forgot how smooth it should be. The one with the hoses/bracket on it costs a bit...
The install itself was cake. Until the tube ended up 1/8 from the a/c line....
Wife was super confused as she saw me check the dipstick... say something about it works.. then started taking it back apart again. A bit later the swearing started.
That was me. Trust me I wanted to make it work. I was genuinely sad when I handed it over to UPS today. It did work as a dipstick, freaking awesome - checked against stock stick - perfect... but it kept positioning itself far too close to the a/c line. So close that it actually pushed the...
I cannot overstate how much of a stand up guy Fitz is; product quality and in general. Not trying to kiss is butt - but giving a third or so stamp of approval on trusting him.
On the wiring etc. My trans wiring loom is 100% not the same as the video. It is way smaller. Not sure why; 2wd vs 4wd...
If anyone else does end up near that ac pipe (after confirming 6 or more times it was installed right, pulled over, etc) and doesn't already know. That ac pipe doesn't get hot. So no melting the handle or some other random stuff. Still going to try and push the bracket to the right at some...
I'm gonna try and loosen those bracket bolts and see how much play that gives me. I don't forsee a need for a refund coming. I really think it's that bracket.
If I had something safe to pry on I would have already tried that to get it to sit more to the driver's side and down. The tube itself...
Anyone else end up with the dipstick itself very close to the ac line? I reinstalled the tube twice to see if I got it hung up somewhere, but nope. I can pull it to where it shows up in other pics but as soon as I tighten the 10mm to the bracket it goes back up.
I think it is the bracket on my...
I am not waiting for the Ford recommended coolant stuff. Going to do it far more often but just dump and flush the radiator and surge tank. Might do a real flush if/when I do hit that mileage.
This entire thing was a scheme for Mike to learn all our real names and addresses. Weird this happened after someone else vanished. Might even have trackers on the tube....
