I know how you feel. I was terrified if they would have had to keep my truck. I have a hour drive each way to work, I live way out in a rural area on a farm so no Uber, Lyft etc. When I asked if they had loaners I’d needed he laughed. Said they use to have around 60 not they have 5 to loan out...
Same I bought new hoping to not have to worry about this stuff for a while. At least with the slip yoke it took. 45min-1hr visit for them to diagnose it. Told me fine too drive it & they “claim” it’ll only take a hour to swap the new driveshaft in later today. I don’t know if theres a difference...
Today is my appointment at the dealer for the bumping at Stop/Go, far more pronounced in hot weather. Well if the part actually came in. Hoping it did since they haven’t called , yet lol.
I still don’t understand why they are replacing my driveshaft for this issue if there is a Ford OEM boot...
Now that I think about it I may have the Blaster Silicone spray. I was so impressed with their garage door spray I grabbed a can of every type they had at Home Depot a while back. If I have it I’ll try that.
Ranger is also my first truck too lol. I love my Ranger but if I were to buy right now with gas prices how they are the Maverick would be Really tempting, if they stocked em on the lot lol. Like you said I’m also happy a year later with my purchase
I kind of like both & I think they will both sell well. I do like the Maverick’s appearance a lot more. I see them all over the place here in Michigan. I don’t think I’d trade my Ranger for one but I can definitely see the appeal of them.
Every time I see these threads it makes me paranoid lol. I love on a farm so LOTS of field mice. Have not seen any indications they are messing with my Ranger. Would your auto insurance cover damage they do to peoples vehicles?
I fully expected them to say they were just going to grease it & send me on my way. I was shocked when they said they were replacing it. Dealer I go to said this is the first time they’ve seen this on a Ranger but see it on F-150’s a lot.
I didn’t ask them what if I had ignored it but my guess is it would wear the splines down & I’d imagine cause an actual problem later on. My personal experience things don’t just go away & not cause more problems later on so I’d bring it to there attention but with only 4400 miles you don’t have...
If yours & the rest are same as mine is , I’ve noticed mine only had the bump at stop/go when it was warmer than 65-70f outside. Cooler days this last month when it was 55-60f there was zero bump & days it was hot-90f the bump was VERY pronounced.
I got one of these invites in the mail also. If it was for 1-2 days sure then. 2 weeks though ?. Doesn’t Ford just have some Rangers of their own to use for this emissions testing ?
Just had my 21 ranger in last week for a “bump” at stop/go. They told me it was the slip yoke sticking. Is this the same of what you’re describing? They told me Ford doesn’t sell the rubber boot and Ford requires the dealer to replace the driveshaft under warranty. A new driveshaft is ordered &...
Yeah I’ve read many stories about dealers not being helpful.
If I had to guess the slip yoke just needs to be packed with some grease & it would be good. I don’t know why Ford deems it “Not Serviceable”. Seems like it cost them a lot more to replace it. If your handy I bet it’s not to hard to...
Yeah it sucks. I feel like it’s common now days to have warranty work so soon, but like you said the Ranger is an amazing truck & 100% happy I’m the end.
Yeah tell about it for sure. First time it happened I thought maybe the spare tire was loose & bumped on stop/go. After I explained it they had 4-5 ideas what it might be. I think as soon as the driveline specialist test drove it he was sure it was the slip yoke.
