  1. Is a 10,000 mile oil change interval ideal for the 2.3L?

I got into Fordpass today to check on my service records. Planning on a trip so I wanted to see where I was on my 5K service interval. Surprise, surprise, the self-entered oil change that I did at about 10K was somehow completely missing. All the Ford entered service records were there. Luckily...
  2. Toyota Is Planning A New EV With A 900-Mile Range And 10-Minute Charging Time.

My understanding of electrical things is pretty much limited to amps x volts = watts, I think. But, to me, there's no way enough energy to move a vehicle 900 miles or even 500 miles could be transferred into a battery in 10 minutes. My mind is conjuring up images of melting wires, for sure.
  3. Black paint on my nice Oxford White...

While out yesterday doing the Sunday drive thing, I seem to have run over some black paint and it spotted the right side of my truck. It does not appear to be tar or some other petroleum product. I do think it is some kind of paint. Anyway, I'm looking for some advice from someone on what to use...
  4. Welp, add me to the list.

One of the nasty parts of an accident is the hit you take on your rig that you won't be compensated for. The vehicle will now be in that Carfax data base. Only way for that not to cost you is just drive it till the wheels fall off. Good luck on the repairs.
  5. How Much Can You ACTUALLY Tow?

So those of us with a narrower trailer are fine with standard mirrors and a rear facing camera. Those with 8 foot wide trailers favor Clearview mirrors. If my trailer was 8ft wide and not seven feet wide, I would likely have both.
  6. The PIC whore club! Come on in!

It's my OCD with vehicles. So, no hope for me.
  7. The PIC whore club! Come on in!

Nice Saturday under the shade tree. Not two years old yet and still looks fresh. Shari says no one cleans under the hood! Right around 18K miles and no real complaints so far.
  8. Oil: Canada vs US

Yes, I agree, the french fry as well as a common hot dog, is just a delivery system for my favorite condiment... ketchup (especially Hunts). It's like a pancake is just a way to enjoy butter and maple syrup. BTW, Soupie is a twin to the Ranger I ordered but never got built. Wonder if she has a...
  9. 10R80 class action suit

To answer Msfitoy: Txquailguy said... To try and put everyone to ease out there in 10R80 land....I'm working on 102K miles now on my 19' Ranger with no real tranny issues....let me give you a chronology of my life with the Ranger so far...lol.
  10. Basic recovery gear/skills

Interesting thread with lots of good advice. This... " Trouble in the southwest is your going to struggle to find an anchor for a winch or come along. " reminded me of a situation I found myself in many years ago while surveying a cross-country cable line west of Gerlach, Nevada in the Smoke...
  11. Windy day towing

Rick, What camper are you pulling? Also, what E2 hitch do you have? I have a Blue Ox hitch now and badly miss my Fastway E2 hitches of which I owned two. You should have the smallest E2 for your camper. There are at least three sizes. It's all about the spring bars. If you have a heavier model...
  12. Do you know what this tailgate piece is?

I found a piece like that too. Couldn't figure out how to get it back on so I tossed it the glove box for now.
  13. Maximizing Battery Life

So, after reading this quite informative thread, I am considering setting up Forscan on an old computer. From what I have read, it looks like it's pretty much a no-brainer to raise the charging threshold to get more life out of the battery. My question to you guys that know the most is... living...
  14. Carbon buildup at 25k miles - A short story

I know there are no dumb questions, but... (yeah, I know, yes there are!) I don't read all the threads so here goes. Is the possible build-up of carbon on the valves the main, and maybe only, reason for the catch can mod? BTW, OP, thanks for your highly, fact based, informative posts.
  15. Ranger truck rating seen today.

Spotted this on the internet today: Reliable Used Truck: 2020 Ford Ranger – Reliability Score: 3/5 The Ranger has returned above-average reliability ratings since Ford redesigned the current model in 2019. Pricing for the 2020 Ford Ranger on the used car market now ranges from $24,000 to...
  16. Gas Prices Are Headed Back Up In February

Filled up today with 87 for $2.85. still had half tank of 91 from our Florida trip. Tow with premium 91 or better. Can not say my mileage or performance improves noticeably with premium when not towing. Truck runs just fine on 87.
  17. How Much Can You ACTUALLY Tow?

We pull a 20 foot Winnebago Mico Minnie with our Ranger. We specifically went with this unit because it is 7 feet wide and has no slides. Just a personal preference after owning a couple larger trailers that had multiple slides. Never had a slide failure but when it's moving day and raining...
  18. Engine cover (revisited)

Looking at the eBay feedback for that engine cover kit. Everyone seems happy with their purchase with many mentioning the quality and fit. Looks like this dealer sold over 200 for less than $100. Then as his supply dwindled, he shot for the moon by raising the price to $240. At this point the...
  19. Happy St Patrick's Day

Our family heritage is mostly French, German, English and Nordic. But our family celebrates this day because it's the day my dad, a WWII vet, opened his barber shop in 1950. He had gone to barber college on the G.I. Bill. He and my mom raised us five kids on the income from that barber shop. I...
  20. High Mileage Ranger Report

What a nice thread to read. Mostly positive and reassuring. We just got back from our annual month in the Sunshine state. Spent most of the time in campgrounds along the panhandle. This is us at the Blackwater River State Park. it's one of our favorites. Just for the heck of it, I did a...
