Ok, so now it was time to fix the rear lights. They’re in for an LED upgrade too, shortly, but in the meantime, swapped out the chrome XLT lights for the “way less chrome, lots more grey” Wildtrak lights.
XLT-
Vs Wildtrak -
Again, cheap (so many over here swap from new for aftermarket...
My door handles turned up. After weeks of searching, they were the only set I could find. Tore them open and found this…
Two different colours. Rear ones must be from a PX2, as only the front are a match to the other PX3 OEM painted parts I have. I wasn’t happy.
Got it mate. That post was a bit confusing until I played with the lock again after reading.
For anyone who ever search’s this…
Place knife in here…
And carefully lever up…
Thanks again for your help, much appreciated ?
Hi guys, have the door handle off my drivers side door(changing handles) and I can’t figure out how to remove the actual steel lock mechanism from the plastic of the door handle. So simple to this point, but I’ve googled, looked at the manuals, tried carefully levering, even inserted and turned...
Next bit of chrome gone. Mostly.
Hoping to get the set of new door handles I ordered in the post tomorrow, as well as my other parts back from the painter. Fingers crossed.
This thread is perfectly timed with my vinyl turning up, closer in colour to my painted parts than I expected.
Now I just have to figure out how to put the whole dash apart! Oh, and how to do a decent job wrapping .
My Vinyl wrap for holiday project.
I literally typed "metallic dark grey vinyl wrap", into eBay. Saw something that looked close on my screen to the "Wildtrak Grey", I wanted for my interior bits. Took a punt and got close enough.
It'll never be next to a factory painted part, so I'm sure...
Mate, 4 years is a long time to drive a stock truck!
And that’s the next rule. All mods must be removable and/or reversible, so I can sell them all when I move to my next one down the track.
Okey, with the truck now looking about a million times better, @AzScorpion introduced me to 303 Graphene. Well colour me impressed, the stuff worked wonders, and for some strange reason, I started taking photos of my work truck. Odd, I know.
But a couple of things bothered me. Firstly, the...
So, before we go any further, a quick rundown on the Aussie XLT, which I've been told is different to the US XLT. This is basically the mid-tier spec of Ranger in Aus, after the Raptor, Wildtrak/Wildtrak X & FX4 (I'm not a Ranger expert, so if any Aussies see this and I've made a mistake, please...
Ok, so this isn't a build thread. Or a build at all. This is just my new work ute. This thread is just to show some of the similarity's, differences and whatnot, between the Aus-spec and US-spec vehicles. And definitely NOT, to document any mods. Not at all.
I probably should just be thankful...
People over here are waiting months, from what I've heard, I needed mine ASAP, so they pretty well took what they had in stock (I asked for white), and added what they could do at the dealer.
And yes, we have the bar lol. That you can't actually do much with, but look at. Good for a light load...
Bit of a difference hey?
I didn't get a choice on spec, my employer ticked the boxes for me. Mats, tint, tow pack, weather visors, etc. Sadly not leather, but considering how long the wait is for most cars over here post-covid, the fact it was ready for me in a few days, was way more important.
To make things even more confusing, mine is an XLT. But an Aus XLT. Which means most of the cool bits, but leather is an option. The grill/mirrors/fender vents/handles/etc are all chrome hence my chrome removal escapades.
And yep, we have the black button on driver and passenger doors, and...
Thanks mate, I'm in the process of deciding if I use covers or go to the trouble and expense of replacing whole handle. The covers look great, so I may save a few bucks here.
Cheers.
I love this build. Let’s me live out all the things I can’t do to my truck ?
Are they just covers on the door handles? Or the covers are behind, so you don’t scratch paint opening? Thanks.
