Hello! Up next on my upgrade list is to install a 1 piece Tom Woods driveshaft. I've searched around the forums a bit but couldn't find anyone that had a step by step guide or video for removing the old driveshaft then installing the new. Is there a guide or video someone can point me to...
Thank you gentlemen! I'll need to remove the FX-4 skid plate as well, so I'll take the crossmember plate off too. I also have my safety hockey puck on the jack to prevent damage.
Dumb question, but I want to make sure before putting the truck up on jack stands. Is it ok to jack up the truck from the crossmember? Or should I jack up each side individually from the lower control arm beneath the strut? Thank you!
Using this video as a guide:
Looks like when he reassembles around the 9 minute mark, he removes the upper control arm from the knuckle for leverage and then is able to use a jack to get the lower control arm back into place. Always looks easier on video! Haha
Dude, THANK YOU! I did not know about this method until you linked the thread above. It looks like as long as I mark the bolts for how they were, it shouldn't be an issue. Definitely leaning towards this method opposed to disassembling everything else. Autozone is going to be getting a lot...
Going to be installing the Eibach stage 2 leveling kit and in my due diligence of research I came across 2 very helpful videos:
Video 1:
Video 2:
In video 1 the mechanic leaves on the caliper and rotor which would obviously save me some time compared to video 2 where both are removed. When...
UPDATE 6:
Received the truck back with the rebuilt transmission. SA advised me it may drive a little strange for the next 100-500 miles as the TCU relearns. Unfortunately, I now have a completely new issue when I come to a stop. It feels like something is loose and clunks hard after the...
UPDATE 5:
After tearing apart the transmission, and submitting the photos/info to Ford corporate; they advised the shop to perform a complete transmission rebuild. Looks like I'll be out a truck for another week minimum. Truck was originally dropped off on President's day. I did ask the SA...
Makes sense, my last vehicle was stick shift and slipping the clutch was always at the sacrifice of clutch longevity. Glad to read I can flash between the two and see which I like better.
Appreciate that! From what I read Torrie frequents the boards, or at least used to. Do they offer a 91 octane tune? Or any specific tune you recommend of their choices?
Hello all! As some of you may have seen in the other thread, my Ranger is currently at the dealership getting the transmission warrantied. During this down time I thought, why not look into tuning choices? It's something I've been contemplating but want to pull the trigger on soon. I'm...
UPDATE 4:
Got a call back from Ford, apparently the pressure test did not go well and they're at a loss for what else to do. Due to this, they're taking apart the transmission earlier next week and submitting detailed pictures to Ford corporate to see how they want to handle it. Fingers...
UPDATE 3:
Called in today since it's been a week only to find out my SA is on PTO. I spoke with another gentleman in the service department and he told me the valve body was replaced but the technician took it for a test drive and was unhappy with how it went into gear. From here they are...
Funny enough, I brought this up to the SA when I dropped my truck off and he told me since they couldn’t replicate it consistently it’s not something they can diagnose. He did notate it in the file, but I found it discouraging for the $400 they were going to charge to diagnose they wouldn’t at...
Sir, neither am I. It's such a shame because other than that, I absolutely love the truck. I guess time will tell, and with the mileage I drive I have about another year before I'm out of warranty.
I could be wrong since there’s a lot of conflicting information, but others have mentioned since mine was built in December 2022 it has the updated CDF drum?
