  1. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Not to divert from the purpose of this thread. But it would be interesting to see the wind tunnel testing for the Ranger. There are a few out there for the F150. It's amazing all the engineering time and thought that goes into improving the aero on these vehicles. That little lip on the...
  2. What did you do to your Ranger today?

I had thought about this and may look into it. I still think that these types of scoops will have little to no effect and are mostly cosmetic. The way the front grill is designed with the center horizontal air damn separating the grill into two, along with the vertical air damns along the...
  3. Another Shakeup at Ford

Makes sense to separate the business units most notably for tax purposes. When I picked up my truck, I had a conversation with the manager while they were finalizing paperwork. He had mentioned that it appeared as though Ford was going towards the Tesla model of dealerships. Where they...
  4. Cold(er) intake based on modified snorkel idea?

Typically fender vents are cosmetic; for higher end applications, they serve as an outlet for the high pressure that builds up creating lift and drag. Vents can incorporate ducting near the brakes to help draw hot air out, reducing pressure, drag, and lift. You would be better served to duct...
  5. Cold(er) intake based on modified snorkel idea?

Not sure how that would work. There is an open channel in the fender that you could route ducting. The main question would be is there enough air pressure around the body at that location to force air in. I would think the opposite effect would happen in that air around the body would...
  6. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Finished printing the Air Scoopity Doopity 3000. Next will be testing if these actually reduce intake temps by any notable degree.
  7. Useful 3D printed items..

I usually print in PLA for quick - cheap prototyping, and test fitting. Then move on to a finish material. Nylon is probably my least favorite but fantastic for working parts, horrible for post processing, but the end part can be fantastic. PC has been wonderful to work with, strong...
  8. Do you guys think this will "Buff out"?!

Used parts are going for pretty good prices right now and have kept up with used car prices. I occasionally peruse parts request for used Ranger parts. Normally there are on average 80 pages of parts. The other day there were over 220 pages. Must be a lot of wrecks lately. But I've...
  9. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Completed the trailer brake controller install. Was relatively painless, couple hours, just a few head scratching moments. The pins for the Y-Harness fittings can be a bit of a pain to get seated well. You have to pay attention to the orientation so they clip in well, and not get backwards...
  10. Members buying 2022, why aren't you waiting for the 2023 Model?

I'm waiting on the Raptor. I won't even consider until I see how the first year of the next generation works out. Let the bugs get worked out of the first years model. With everything that is going on geo-politically, chip shortages are bound to continue and the cost to deliver will most...
  11. Better Get Your Ranger Now

Considering all the parts they are stripping off to save a few bucks, the actual price increase is probably greater than $530. At this rate the steering wheel will be optional.
  12. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Installed the LightForce panel for the extra switches and for the trailer brake controller knob. Wired the switch lighting to my ambient lighting which is on Aux6. If anyone is curious the switch lighting draws .037 amps at 12VDC. Prewired the switch wiring out towards the fuse box with a...
  13. Velossa Tech Design Big Mouth for 2019+ Ranger

Still utilizes the OEM opening. Just made some modifications for tolerances and reduced the number of mechanical fasteners for the (2) pieces, (5) per side was overkill when (3) is more than sufficient. Also simplified the red trim. Just made it a simple add-on that can be dual printed as...
  14. Velossa Tech Design Big Mouth for 2019+ Ranger

Finished up the prototype and it fits nicely without any rubbing. I'll start a new thread on the testing when I print the final model. I'm waiting on some new print cores since I haven't replaced those in years and they have some serious mileage on them. Also waiting on some new ASA...
  15. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Installed the Extended View blind spot mirrors and engine cover. Gonna wait for the weekend to do the Trailer Brake Controller, LightForce Panel, and Panel lighting, Panel lighting should be simple since I left a pigtail from the PRNDS lighting.
  16. Any way to disable or lock rear door locks?

As mentioned above if you look at page 32 of the manual there is a lock you can enable that is located on the door. This disables the interior handle and not the electronic locks.
  17. CAN bus Failure

That very well could be and the issue (electrical) just cascaded from there. I'm not sure this could be home done though. Lots of specialized equipment and programs.
  18. CAN bus Failure

After a bit of searching the BCM is not the hub. Our trucks are equipped with a Smart Data Link Module (Part #14F642). It is located under and within the fuse block. Here is an informative video on diagnosing the gateway / smart gateway modules and the lengthy steps in diagnosing...
  19. CAN bus Failure

Oh man that is incredibly frustrating. I would only be speculating as I've never seen a schematic of the modules and wiring on these trucks. My world in non automotive revolves around programming, mostly embedded systems, I do have a broad understanding of electronics, enough where I can hook...
  20. Ranger Must Have Accessories

The second most important is the tow hitch stripper pole. It can double as a flag pole and antenna mount.
