Yes, you can certainly force the jaws over the balls without pre-spreading them. The ends of the jaws are sharp though, so if you want to avoid scratching up the paint on the ball, spreading them before placing them onto the balls helps.
Not sure how much it'll matter in the long run, but I...
Well. 90 minutes or so to clean all the bug guts off. Less than five to install the struts.
For those looking to add to their truck, the Ford OEM parts come with a dollop of grease in each ball end. So it actually took me longer to go find the right small screwdriver to use to pry under the...
Was absolutely awesome. Ranger hauled all the gear without any issue, up and down mountains, across valleys, down highways; still managed over 21 mpg. (calculated by hand by Fuelly) The bed was stuffed FULL and had 100 lb crate on a hitch haul in the receiver too.
Didn't hurt that I won the...
Been slammed with work stuff.
Also, spent the last day or two cleaning the truck up after the fishing trip. Where we were in central PA, the roads were ALL dust. (ironic, given how much rain we got in the past two weeks, making our fishing trip really challenging the first two days)
Still...
Hey guys, anyone that has the factory hood struts.
I have acquired a pair for my 2022, but wanted to check if there's any installation tidbits that I should consider. (pics of your strut would be greatly appreciate too. :) )
Does the paint need to be removed from the balls, or did Ford leave...
This one:
ESI Ranger Tailgate Seal
I studied their directions thoroughly, was all prepared to follow, and realized at the moment of prep that it was just plain overkill. My setup with the cover and bed mat is so decent at keeping almost everything but driving water out, even up to heavy rains...
Finally got some nice weather and was stuck at home for the whole day so I installed the weather seal for the tailgate area.
Hoping it keeps the majority of water and dust out of the bed ; not going to bother sealing the bottom edge as I’ve found that the transition flap that is part of the...
2016 Tundra SuperCrew.
Was a really good truck, but more than I needed at this point. Have been so happy with the Tremor, I have zero regrets so far. ? ?
It's actually more an 'average person' issue.
Short people need the step; so they use it every time they get in and out.
Tall people do not need the step, and can climb into the seat directly from a foot planted on the ground. They can also reach beyond the step to plant their foot directly...
So far, I like them a lot. 4.5 out of 5 stars after having them installed for a few weeks now. Which surprised me, as I had my heart set on bolt on slider steps, but after deciding to go all in on a Diamondback cover, I had to shuffle my budget downwards elsewhere, so the RB20 Slim was the...
Here's a previous post from when I installed them:

Let me know if you need more pics than that.
I really liked the look of the truck without boards/steps, but wife and kids needed something to climb up into the cab.
Be aware though; I can't tell from your profile pic, but if you don't have mud flaps in the front, a lot of rocks can get kicked up into the rocker panels, leaving lots of...
I had a set on my 2007 F150 through 5 years of PA winters and everything it entails. Snow, Ice, Road salt/chemicals, often with thaw/freeze cycles daily. Basically the worst combination of all of the above.
Never once had an issue. They deployed and closed reliably every single time. The...
May or may not have had all of the above. ?
Started with HK stuff nearly two decades ago, tried but could never get a Glock to feel right in my hand, so branched out into 1911s for a while, then collected a buncha Sigs. (Pride and joy is a Legion SAO P229 I got a few years back when they...
I was worried given stories I’ve read, that the filter would be on stupid tight from the factory. But it was not horrible, and twisted off with a cap wrench without too much fuss.
