Some oils are better at X and some at Y... It doesn't mean you're using a "lesser oil".
It makes perfect sense. You just have to stop thinking there is a "best oil". There is a best oil for your usage.
Do you think a Hoosier R7 should be run in the snow? It is the best tire... At something...
I don't have a problem with oil conversion as long as it includes data, sampling, and usage. At PRI 2019, I attended an oil class and the biggest thing they (oil manufacturers) hit home on, was what I've always said... You choose oil based on usage. If you're going to use an engine in an...
No, those are mutually exclusive. If the owner is too incompetent to properly take care of a vehicle, it can be highly worn at much lower mileage.
But... Does this offend you? :D
It's lugging. I've lugged an engine with far more torque than that. That said, torque and beating up bearings aren't always related. If anything, it's far from a smooth driving experience.
I've never used a high mileage oil... My Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD is at 235k and I'm still using Rotella T6 every 8-10k miles. I don't even check the oil. It takes 2.5 gallons and I pour that in with a filter change, run it until time to change, repeat.
I don't consider 75k miles to be "high...
I don't like that it gets in too high of a gear, but that's about it. I've got a tune ready to put on, once I hit 1k miles (I set that for myself) to make D mode a little less lugging. I plan to play with the transmission shifting until I find something I like. I don't find any better mileage...
I sold a car almost immediately after a recall came out that entailed valve spring replacement because I knew what type of people would be working on the car at the dealer. Being a newer Subaru, the engine needed to come out and half apart to do the job. No thanks, I don't don't want to deal...
I'm an ECU tuner, so yeah... I have a few ECU's.
That said, an ECU failure would have a lower failure rate than any carb... By a long shot. When ECU's fail, it's generally from the idiot doing his own wiring.
I'm actually more likely to have some spare injectors and coils in my travel box than I am carburetors. :) Plenty fixable in the field (race track). :)
Oh man... You should see the Maverick forums (I ordered a Maverick for my wife). "Look at me do truck stuff" (loads a tic-tac). Look at my mileage I got on this downhill drive". Will I ever get my truck?". That's like every single post.
I've seen one turtle... Stopped for it to cross.
I agree, many owners are much like coal rollers and they're annoying. I wouldn't mind mine being quieter, but there is not much exhaust length to work with.
I also stick to the roads and trails designated for such use... Which is basically...
The trips we've done have been worth it. And I've never lost money selling, so it's kinda like a refundable deposit.
You probably think my other hobby isn't worth. it. at .all. I lose way more money with this...
I got it last year with 20 miles on it as a guy had to get rid of it a few months after buying. Spent $19k and probably put another $6k in it.
I got my XL at what I thought was a decent price after going through Granger and $1,500 worth of incentives, but my Ranger was still more expensive...
