I too was in the hunt although it took me a couple of minutes to realize where it was at, when I was connecting my boat trailer up to test. I also came from hazards on the steering column. Yes it's a "BIG" button.
Since you're already adding a switch and a white/red light. I would suggest running the positive from battery with inline fuse, then doing a body ground for the negative. Locate the switch and light in a place you desire. The timeout through the BCM can be adjust through ForScan for on times...
When I did mine last year. I went through the rubber plug underneath by driver rear door closes to pillar. Drilled a small opening up in channel , then connected to rear cargo signal wire. ran the split loom along frame with factory harness to rear taillight. I added grommet to the drilled hole...
Since cargo lights are from the BCM and are FET output then make sure you isolate the two power sources. If you happen to have cargo light output on and then switch to battery power output you can cause problems which at least will blow a fuse. You can use diodes to block anode flow. Use fuse...

Back to the post of Start/Stop.
If you have access to a Windows platform PC, then I would recommend using FORScan to disable the setting. Donating to the author is a small cost compared to the perks you get.
Many other settings are also offered with the program/App, thanks to many users on the...
@DirkM
Can you quote me a price for a tray? I can paint texture or whatever needs to
be finished. I have a couple of USB wireless charging pads for car already.
Thanks
Yes, I found out that the old grease can sometimes pack harder even though you do a couple of light pumps and then release. I now just take the hubs of and repack the bearings.
