If you are on a tight budget you can get a set of Rough Country shocks from Stage3 for $100, for a set. So, $50/ea. They are a huge improvement above stock FX shocks. RC used to be crap, now it is the budget king (in my opinion)!
So I went to their site to check it out, It says it is in transit, and that the ranger seen is a stock photo. I think 55k is way too much for a fx4 with maybe 3k in accessories on it, but that is my opinion!
@P. A. Schilke Not sure if you had anything to do with factory FX4 shocks but they are pretty amazing at 110+! The soft and squish really let you fly ?
I installed the MBRP axle dump exhaust on my truck and it was very, very loud. Drone was horrible and neighbors complained, sounded bad.. I had a muffler shop weld in an 18" muffler in the mid section and now it is just right. It is high and out of the way, has a nice rumble, and no perceivable...
I am sure you will still have so much fun! You are going to some amazing places, please take pictures for us! You can always go back if you liked a place more than the others ;)
Gemini Bridges is a great place to start in Moab, it is easy with a few steps a just a couple of challenging areas, it also has amazing views. Fins and Things is also a lot of fun and has bypasses if needed. Other trails I would suggest for an easy to moderate challenge are; Book cliffs/Sego...
I installed the ARB cover from stage3 and replaced with Ford fluid at 4k-5k miles. Stock fluid was chunky, burnt, and both magnets were packed full. I will probably drain and refill at 15k-20k.
For my entire suspension overhaul the only hardware I replaced were the axle nuts, and U-Bolts. Everything else had new loctite applied and torqued to spec.
I wasn’t going to buy UCA’s, until I found that 3 inches of lift basically maxes out your tie rods, sway bar links, and ability to align it. It also puts your ball joints at a very extreme level. So I bumped up my eibachs to 3.5” lift and went with UCAs. I was worried about the price but now...
I am taking my Truck to some trails in Colorado, and back to Moab in June. I am running SL (P) Kenda Klevar AT2 in 33's. Im prepared for a flat, but not expecting one. After going through all of the trails and sharp rocks that I went through with the stock Dunlops on the Jeep, I am convinced you...
You can make the connection a plug, and keep an allen wrench/ box wrench in your vehicle to remove/install them as needed. I just leave mine on there 24/7. No added noise from these. Just be sure you get weather-proof lights!
If it makes you feel any better about taking your truck on a trip without much prep, new vehicles have road side assistance. This can provide some peace of mind. My wife and I took our Jeep Renegade 4x4 (Renegade, like the tiny not-really-a-jeep, jeep) on a 3,000+ mile vacation. We ended up...
My factory Hankook's on my FX4 were indeed LT tires. I don't think they are good tires, but they are not P or SL rated. Actually, I would bet that a SL/P rated AT3W would out perform the factory hankook. Just my $0.02. I wouldn't hesitate to take a factory FX4 off road, you even have a full size...
I got some random brand from amazon for $170. Had to make my own brackets and use my own hardware but its solid!
Edit: this required drilling into my bed in several places! Cheap amazon cover = permanent holes.
