lol, no shill here. All 4 corners of mine have been replaced. But for a free flowing short travel strut and shock they do perform well at medium speeds off-road. Which is how Ford advertises the FX4 package. Just because we like constipated shocks doesn't mean all other are trash. :P
Nah FX4 shocks are designed for a specific use, they perform better at speed. They are not a bad shock.. They just don't feel great for normal driving.
You lift for tire clearance, you install bigger tires for ground clearance, that is the fundamental design of lifting any vehicle for off-road use. I do not believe that anyone, anywhere makes a full drop kit for us. Lowering the diff by 1" from one of the several kits available does not mean we...
Alignment was spot on. I was right about the RC UCA's. Even though they say they "only" work with 3.5" of lift, they work with less, My Caster is low enough I bet you could use these on 2.5" lifts or even just 2" leveling kits.
I had a 2019 1500 Lonestar that I purchased for 33k, traded it in for 43k a year later (Covid). It was a great truck, smooth as silk, and I sometimes miss the Hemi. Definitely a different kind of truck than the Ranger. Very different. Grats on your purchase!
Unrelated to this post, but did you get your truck figured out? Buying another one? Fixing yours?
I ordered custom length shocks for the rear of my truck. Several companies do custom orders for all budgets, from $100/ea to $1000+/ea.
That is a good idea, I will ask the tech what the factory specs are and we will go from there. Back has an add-a-leaf for approx 1.5 inches of lift over factory, with Icon bump stops and (will have- on order) 18 inch travel shocks :D
Installed the budget option today, $300 for a set of Rough Country UCA's paired with my 3" Eibach lift. RC says these only work with a 3.5", but a lot of tacoma people have had luck with RC UCA's (Also 3.5 "only") on their trucks, even with 2" leveling kits. An after market UCA just adds caster...
Installed new Rough Country (Bad word, I know) UCA's today, paired with an Eibach Pro kit set at the lowest setting (3"), and had my new Kenda 33's put on! Alignment tomorrow :)
Both from Amazon, Tonneau cover is a Tonneau Pro, and Rack is a TMS. Rack is universal, but surprisingly easy to install, and has a static load rating of 800lb. The tonneau came with Ranger specific brackets but required significant drilling into the bed rails. So both of these mods require...
The 3 and 4 light kits from stage 3 tie into the DRL lights, and then you can enable bambi lights in Forscan, and voila, everything you want. The stage3 lights have a pigtail, it is all plug-and-play. Worth the money!
Edit: Entire install, including Forscan change took 9 minutes.
