  1. Basic recovery gear/skills

Even with a 12K lb winch I often carry a 6K lb synthetic line puller. Whether for winch failure, or 2nd point anchor. https://www.baileysonline.com/wyeth-scott-ratchet-puller-3-ton-with-35-amsteel-rope.html Often over-looked is the peripheral gear to go with it. I carry some or all of: 4...
  2. Seat covers that are airbag-safe

I am not a fan of seat covers in general, but do like having some protection available for mud and mess when off-roading. These Aries covers are perfect. I leave them attached to my headrests, but normally flipped over the back and hang behind the seat. When needed it only takes a few seconds to...
  3. Keyless entry sensors don't always work?

I will indeed check the batteries, I have a brand new spare for the fob. The truck battery is only 2 years old, and hasn't shown any of signs hesitation or degradation yet. I don't have a load tester available, but may schedule a dealer appointment to have it checked in a few months when my...
  4. Keyless entry sensors don't always work?

If it's a weak battery in either the fob or truck, I would assume neither lock or unlock sensors would be active, but every time it's happened, the lock sensors work fine. I've even used the fob to unlock it in those events. Then without opening the door tried the sensors again, and they both...
  5. Keyless entry sensors don't always work?

Doesn't seem to be outside temp related. It worked last week parked outside at -19C over night at work, then didn't work in my garage today at +9C.
  6. Keyless entry sensors don't always work?

So at first I didn't really grasp how AWESOME this feature is. I would often reach for my key fob to unlock the doors as I approached my Ranger, sometimes with full hands and put items on the tonneau cover to get the fob from my pocket. Then I realized I just have to grab the handle in a natural...
  7. Factory Nav vs Google Maps

Too many posts to read, so I'm just posting blindly. I rarely use any nav system, but on occasion if I am going to an unfamiliar place I will. When I do, I always use Apple maps, because it is faster and easier than the Ford system. That maybe because I have been using it for many years and I...
  8. Towing beast!

According to the weigh scale, they were 13,520 combined, so more like 8500 lbs for the trailer and Yukon. The big hoopla as you put it, is they were over GVCW and towing capacity by more than 1,000 lbs.
  9. New Mud Flaps

In most cases I'd rather go without, than reward Ford Parts department with their ridiculous mark up scamming Ford customers. I have already bought the primary piece by ford being the vehicle, when I go to their parts department I expect good deals on parts, not 5x to 20x what I can find the...
  10. Is it me or does the base Ranger seem "too tall"

I'm not 5'11, but very close. The factory Ranger was the perfect cab/seat height for me, until I added 3.5" lift and 2.5" on the tires. Now it's slightly too high for easy access. The bed height, was too high for reach ins over the side or tailgate, but I think most of that is bed depth, more so...
  11. New Thailand Ranger with Monster Cab Over Camper (girl not included)

Why is that? F150 has a longer wheel base, wider footprint and more weight at a lower center of gravity which all equates to more stability carrying a taller load. What about the Ranger gives it an advantage?
  12. Would you?

That's friggin hilarious! If I had a beater mudder truck, I do that before using swimming pool or garden trim for guards.
  13. A couple more box tie-down points.

I don't think I've ever heard mine. Hanging, box liner and tonneau cover are all factors probably.
  14. New Thailand Ranger with Monster Cab Over Camper (girl not included)

That looks like a very comfortable camper for a Ranger, but also looks like it's far too top and rear heavy to travel at touring speed or hilly/curvy roads. IMO the benefit to a Ranger is the versatility and maneuverability that a small truck offers, which is completely obliterated by that...
  15. A couple more box tie-down points.

I luckily bumped into a friend who was returning his 20 Ranger for a new F150, so I bought his tie-downs for $20. Woo hoo!!! Dealer list price in Canada for 4 tie downs and 8 bolts is over $330.
  16. A couple more box tie-down points.

Terrible waste of room, not loading on the cab roof as well. He has the premium, extra low angle tailgate angle mod too!!!
  17. A couple more box tie-down points.

Those holes are factory, and the same bolt size as the tie down points. The spacing on the holes is about 1/8" shorter than the tie down brackets, so I do not believe that is the intent. IIRC someone mentioned they are for a tonneau cover or other FORD accesory mounting location. I elongated the...
  18. A couple more box tie-down points.

I like to have high mounted anchors points for load stabilization of taller items, such as the 5 gallon tall gas cans. These are not going to be used for 1,000 lb loads, just stabilizing top end tipping issues. I'd like something along the side wall of the box, as well, but being just sheet...
  19. Anyone know who makes this bed rack?

Yes indeed, they are mostly cosmetic or accessories mounts, especially if box rail mounted. I was trying to be graceful and not come across as insulting or demeaning to anyone.
  20. Is the 'Fake Engine Noise' for real?

Although I was never a fan of his TV work (FUll House, AFV) his stand up act was awesome. I also miss Bob Saget. ;)
