Yes that will fit. Here is mine. 285-70-17 on the factory magnetic gray wheel. I do not know how anyone could fit any larger though as there is less than an inch between the tire and the trailer hitch. Factory tow package too.

Ya, based on his pics that doesn't look like a -35. A +35 is more likely. My 17x8.5 with a 0 offset on 285's poke much further. A tad more than I wanted. I'd have done +15 or so.

A 275 should work, a 285 you will rub. I barely rubbed on my previous setup and according to the tire calculations you'd be poking 14mm further out which results in rub at full lock on the crash bars. The only reason 285 would rub is because the need of a spacer.

So you'll move the tire a few mm closer to the suspension, which will require a small spacer to clear the control arm on a 285-70-17 tire. 5mm spacer is required for the factory 17x8 et50 with a 285 so add the 9mm back and you'll need at least least 15mm spacer now. Tire will poke out 21mm more...

If you go wider like a 17x8.5 you may have rubbing.
