In my research on the impact of auto s/s on the engine, I read that the extra wear is only true for a cold engine and since auto s/s is inactive until the engine is warm, that the starting and stopping will not only have no negative impact on the engine, it will reduce wear on an engine when...
Western Washington. I see a decent number of Rangers but almost all of them are older rangers, very few gen 5 sightings. I see far more Tacoma's than any other midsize truck, and a decent number of Colorado sightings too. The least sighted mid size truck for me is easily the Frontier. Actually...
Much of the non-local origin smoke in Northern states is from Canada. Smoke here in the PNW, mostly from Canad, is enough to block out the sun mostly, leaving an ugly dull orange cast on everything.
My spouse usually giggles at my excitement about "turbo season" as I like to call it. On my Subaru's in the past I had separate tunes for turbo season and the rest of the year. Plus usually an extreme heat tune for road trips to very hot climates. I will have to see how this engine handles...
Pedal commander doesn't change the engines behavior nor transmission, it simple spoofs the pedal input to try to improve throttle response. It may solve your issue, but if the issue is happening in sport mode I seriously doubt pedal commander will resolve it. Pedal commander is ~$300 and adds...
I am currently running the Livernois tune. I started with a SCT BDX with 5star tunes, I do regret that one, to me it was terrible compared to the others. After 5star I got a tune from Unleashed for the BDX and I really liked it, especially the tow tune. Finally, I decided to get the Livernois...
Is your truck stock? If not, what hardware mods and is it tuned and if so what tune?
I noticed the behavior you describe, on my stock 2021 xlt fx4. It bugged me a lot, having it sometimes pull hard and others rev high but have/feel no power/pull. I also felt that generally if I stomped from a...
Fair enough and nice bazinga. Though your retort about my MT skills made me giggle. Whatever makes your boat float (yes the same goes my direction lol). Manual vs auto is very subjective and to each their own. And for cvt, factually they have the potential to be superior to any transmission...
On my first Afghanistan tour years back, 2009-2010, I was part of a training group teaching the Afghan Army how to install their HF radio systems on their vehicles. To my surprise thier main fleet of trucks were armored Ford Rangers, painted desert tan and a crew gun swivel mount in the bed of...
This is laughable, seriously. From a true Alabama boy who grew up in true farmland Alabama, yeah that was true, once upon a time... it has not been the case for many years. You can pretend all you want that you and a stick can outperform a modern performance auto or DCT, but pretending is all...
This is hilarious. Trucks often have lots of HP and tons of Torque. There is a reason folks like the big turbo diesel trucks and V8 gasoline trucks/engines, they have higher payload and towing capacities. More HP and Torque is not always about going quickly from 0 to 60 or being the fastest on...
No matter how I drive (or my spouse who always gets better mpg than me) neither of us get as good mpg as stock (with a tune). At best my spouse will get fairly close to stock, -1.8 mpg. But generally we both get far worse mpg with a tune than with stock, and I have three different tuners tunes...
I've been wondering, since anyone can just open the gas fill area, can someone siphon out my gas while I'm hiking a trail or out paddle boarding? I just assumed that's what tank cap locks or in-vehicle fill door releases were preventing, someone stealing your gas...
+1 Details please.
From my research it sounded like S mode and Tow mode can only change shift strategies and not the actual spark/timing/boost/etc parameters proscribed in the calibration.
If that could be done I would pay $2k for that ability! Seriously. To be able to have a tow tune while in D and a performance tune while in S... that would be fucking amazing!!!!
Regards,
Ya'll have an Airborne day!
Could ya'll elaborate on this a bit more? One says sport is slower than drive and the other says no, any sources or the like? I ask because I have a another vehicle (not ford) that has drive and sport modes and S behaves much like the ranger does on S mode, and this vehicle IS slower to 60 in S...
Personal experience, also stuff mentioned in another thread of mine: had some issues with tunes on my ranger, 5star took an eternity to reply to me and when they did it was a link to download a mystery tune with no explanation of what was done to it and they never asked for nor received any data...
