  1. Midsize Truck Comparison: Ranger vs Tacoma, Gladiator, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier

And the Ford Transit van is a van and not a truck because it does not have a bed.
  2. Midsize Truck Comparison: Ranger vs Tacoma, Gladiator, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier

It's not like an Odyssey with a bed from an engineering standpoint. The RL has numerous engineering differences, which include front and rear suspension/frame/transmission/brake rotors and removeable rear bed/body panels. With that said, purpose wise, what do the BOF trucks do better, other...
  3. Midsize Truck Comparison: Ranger vs Tacoma, Gladiator, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier

Some may object, but I think the Ridgeline should be included as well. It is a mid-size truck, although a soft mid-size. Below are the measurables. Length 210" Width 78.6" Height 70.8" WB 125.2" Bed Length 64" Bed Width Min/Max 50"/60" yes a full sheet of plywood can lay flat Engine 3.5 V-6...
  4. Midsize Truck Comparison: Ranger vs Tacoma, Gladiator, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier

With all trucks there is going to be some give and take and it will be up to the consumer to picks the truck that fits best based on lifestyle needs, reliability, capability, safety, price, and styling preference. The trick seems to be finding that balance. My needs/wants are a daily driver...
  5. Things I feel are missing/or needed on a Ranger

Based off your list, I would add that a 6' bed option would have been nice on the crew cab to compete with Tacoma, Canyon, and Colorado. Also, very disappointed in the rear seat configuration, it is not class leading in room, lacks 60/40 split, no flat-floor fold up rear seats, poor under-seat...
  6. 2019 Ford Ranger dimensions, layout and specs - PDF

Good eye, width 73.3 w/o mirrors.
  7. 2019 Ranger curb weight should be about 4210 lbs

yep, 2wd supercab is right under 4,500 lbs.
  8. Mazda Variant of Ranger

No, Ford and Mazda split in 2009.
  9. Midsize Truck Comparison: Ranger vs Tacoma, Gladiator, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier

I wish the rear cab of the crewcab would have been designed better. The Ridgeline is best hands down for midsize trucks. It has rear seat that folds up for flat floor. The others have the back area that folds down. Videos of the global ranger shows the seats fold down but not completely flat...
  10. 2019 Ford Ranger Tech Specs

I'm sure Ford will do what it takes to keep the weight over 6000 GVWR for the 179 Tax Deduction in the US.
  11. I’m 6’3”, will I fit in the new Ranger?

Good question, industry standard by reviewing magazines is too move front seat all the way back and then measure both.
  12. 2019 Ford Ranger Tech Specs

The difference is in the trim level equipment. Electronics, crew cabs, transfer cases, ect. change the weights. So each trim level and 4wd vrs 2wd will have varying weights
  13. 2019 Ranger curb weight should be about 4210 lbs

Ford engineer mentioned in one of the videos that it is an economies of scale matter. Stating aluminum is very expensive. Seemed like he was implying that Ford may add some aluminum pieces here and there but Ford is not anticipating high enough sales numbers to change much from what they are...
  14. I’m 6’3”, will I fit in the new Ranger?

How'd the back seat feel? Think a 6 footer could do 4 hours or so?
  15. 2019 Ford Ranger Tech Specs

It's what I said. cargo + vehicle weight = maximum operating weight. So less the max cargo (1860 lbs) you can surmise what the vehicle weight will be when you know the GVWR is 6050 lbs (based on sticker), so 6050lbs -1860lbs =4190lbs. I am generalizing because depending on trim level, the...
  16. Interior Pictures

It is not a flat floor, there is a driveline tunnel hump in the middle, and there is supposed to be some small storage when the seat fold up. Similar to the Tacoma.
  17. 2019 Ford Ranger Tech Specs

I would guess if the GVWR is 6050 as noted on door stickers, less 1860 payload, curb weight would be 4190ish
  18. I’m 6’3”, will I fit in the new Ranger?

At 2:05 he gets in the truck. I think he's around 6'0" . I don't know how much more headroom you can get with seat pushed all the way down. https://www.tfltruck.com/2018/10/2019-ford-ranger-hands-on-sneak-peek/
  19. Anyone hoping for Ford Ranger Diesel?

The problem with the F150 diesel is cost due to packaging. You have to get a Lariat unless you are a fleet customer with a fleet account to get the diesel. All the good rebates for the F150 are on the XLT package, so you're losing at least 4k in rebates and adding another 6k in trim and diesel...
  20. Midsize Truck Comparison: Ranger vs Tacoma, Gladiator, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier

I'm really wanting to see if the rear seats will lay flat without removing the headrests and how much storage is under the seats. I keep my dog box in the truck on trips and am hoping I can fold the rear seats down and fit the box on top.
